Market Force Termination

I have been a good Market Force shopper for over ten years. The other day I logged into their portal and the job link was missing. When I contacted them, I got an email that just said we have chosen to terminate your ICA.

The only follow up info they would provide was something along these lines: we would not ask you why if you dropped us so we are not going to tell you.

Any thoughts on what is going on here?

I've heard of that happening to a lot of veteran shoppers. They just drop you for no apparant reason. I've also heard of people calling and being reinstated a few months later, so maybe wait a little while and try that (if you even want to still work for them at this point!)

I've heard of that happening before too. That's crazy, not to mention rude, that they don't at least give a decent reason.

I was also "dropped", but because I worked for them in Vegas...seems your unable to work in both places. Don't like their attitude, did sting a bit, but have moved on.

After I saw this post I read some others too, all asking the same thing. Makes me a little nervous because they're such a staple for me every month.

With MF you are either a Nevada shopper or not. No way to be both in their system.

I don't do their shops in CA, and the ones in NV pay better, so it it has worked out for me over the years, picking up some of the remote shops on the road to Vegas. A good portion of my wardrobe came from those outlet stores when shopping them....

I have never heard of Nevada shoppers being dropped in that manner, so perhaps there is a some salvation that goes along with being an employee shopper.

The lesson to be learned here is to not count on any particular MS income source. When you are an IC, jobs will come and go. There's also an additional lesson that MF is a cold an heartless entity, I guess....

I'm shocked they did this.I've tried to work for MF but with no success.Everytime I do a shop for some reason I'm told it's wrong .They say the time was incorrect (I am extremely honest so I don't get it).This company might not be for me.How did it work for you? What did you do? Have you worked for another company before?
I am dying to ask lots of questions but nest time.

The blue portal I find gives overall good instructions. If you follow them you should have no problems. 'Rounding' times seems to be a big issue with them, so try not to enter or exit when the minutes on your watch read X0 or X5. I will sit in the car an extra minute before going in on an X0 or an X5 and I will linger in the restroom a minute longer before departure to avoid it. While timings will legitimately have the seconds be X0 or X5, statistically that should happen not more than 1 in every 3 times. So if one of your service times is X0 or X5, that should not be a problem, but if two service times are you may raise the 'rounding' flag.

Happened to me about 1.5 years ago,one week I get a certificate for completion of
600 + jobs and the next week they dropped me and would not tell me why.Go figure,
I guess the algorithm said drop this shopper.And I agree it's very rude to not
at least give a explanation.

I had a scheduler tell me part of the algorithm was the % of pass/fails.... in that
if you gave 100% positive.... that actually counted against the shopper. Thought they wanted the real truth but I guess not. Scheduler told me to ALWAYS find one thing to count against ( or for in the case of a total fail shop).

I have heard of numerous folks receiving the axe from MF for no apparent reason. Absolutely weird and makes no sense.

If you are a good fit or a bad fit for Market Force does it really matter? The man with the gold makes the rules. Don't go to bed thinking that your life will end if you never shop for them. Hell, they don't! Just love them until they go "POOF".

This just happened to me as well... I did some checking on their website, and found this on the FAQ's--

We do limit the number and type of shops a Shopper can handle for us by project, month, quarter, and year. Each Shopper's potential assignments are unique to his/her history,

I know someone had said they have noticed they don't have any shops available, then a few months later they have shops available again-could this be the reason why?

Trying to put a positive spin on it---it's time I got out of my comfort zone and sign up for more shops. I read this forum enough to know how many companies other shoppers are signed up for and how many I am signed up for... I need to get out hopping and not try to shop for the same few companies over and over......

I find it ironic that Marketforce is in the business of assisting companies to increase their customer service, yet they would say things like "we would not ask you why if you dropped us so we are not going to tell you".

How rude and unprofessional to say that to a 10-year contractor in good standing.

Maybe when good shoppers do leave, Marketforce SHOULD be asking to find out why. While Marketforce is busy helping companies improve their customer services, perhaps they have forgotten that they should also be looking internally to improve themselves.

I agree completely. I could see that a new shopper could do a couple of shops and they are done so haphazardly that they don't feel any level of coaching would be of assistance, I totally don't get this with a proven shopper. If the shops were not meeting criteria, but were close explaining what is wanted would go so much further than random termination. I believe, the vast majority of shoppers want to do a good job and will step up when asked.

I will say I had taken a break from MF and when I came back of the 140 companies I had previously they were one of only 2 that my log-in was no longer valid. I was able to contact them and be reinstated though.

I also got dropped by them last week after working for them for over 7 years and doing more than 1000 shops. I really enjoyed working for them, never seemed to have a problem and then out of the blue..Gone. There is not much I can do with know explanation but move on.

I have had this happen on two ocassions. I waited a week or so and contacted help desk. I was told my telephone information was not correct and needed updating. I corrected and was reinistated.

If you have been working for them for years, it is possible that you
have repeated several shops for one particular client . That Client may have recognized your work and decided that you were too well known to continue doing shops for them.

The excuse I like is that my SS# is not valad. I got my card when I was 19. I was working on my second career after retirement in education for over 30 years. My SS# had also cleared the security background check for a presidental visit at the hospital where I worked. Oh and it had also cleared two other background checks with fingerprints for health care positions. I still laugh about that excuse.

I often find that mystery shopping companies are only interested in themselves and have no "customer service" for their IC. I think they look at it as there is another one where that one came from. I really wish there was a way to negotiate better treatment but a)the one with the gold makes the rules and b)there is always another one ready to do the next shop.

The part that bothers me more than anything with them is their attitude that a GED is "NOT GOOD ENOUGH" to be a shopper. Pretty soon they will say that a Masters Degree is too much in the other direction.

You have to have a tough hide to be an IC for any company. They are under no obligation to tell you why when they drop you--so they don't. The contracts are scrutinized by their legal depts. to eliminate any possible liabilities that could lead to a lawsuit.

The only reason I'm a mystery shopper now is because a company my husb and I were IC's for 30 years making over $100K a year would not renew our contract and gave us no reason. When we asked why, they said they were not required to say. We knew the reason was a new sales manager who wanted to bring in his own friends & relatives for those big $s, but there's no recourse for an IC.

Well, it happened again. About a week or so, I posted that I'd been dropped from the blue portal, now I tried to log into the purple portal and when I did, it said that I'd been deactivated. I have no idea what happened.

You know the funny thing, the reason I was logging in was to get paperwork for a job they called and offered me. Funny, huh?

No, we are independent contractors who pick among the companies and decide which we wish to work for. No shopper is forced to work for Marketforce or any other company. Marketforce offers some benefits which fit my needs and because of that I choose to work for them. It is very easy to select a job because their jobs are all self-serve, which I like. On most jobs, the directions are good and the shop itself is usually easy. The reports are fast and easy. The pay is low, but if the shop is convenient and something I want to do, I take it. They pay like clockwork. All things I like. The shops I don't want, I pass up.

You see to have developed a dislike for Marketforce, reefshoe. There have been companies I have not liked working with, and I do not choose to work with them again. It's all about choice here.
