Coyle Ordering Requirements - Dietary Preferences (Meat Heavy Menu)

Wondering if anyone could share insight on ordering requirements for a small plates kind of restaurant.

It's a typical one appetizer or dessert and two entrees. The restaurant has a large selection of mezze, small plates and entrees. All the "entrees" are an animal protein without sides.

My guest is mostly vegetarian but will eat fish sometimes. I'm not eating meat at the moment but will eat fish. No duplicates are allowed, etc. There is one fish entree.

Would it be acceptable to do a small plate and the fish entree to satisfy the requirements? They offer falafel which could work but it's part of the mezze/appetizer menu. There are small plates which could work for our diets but not sure how that would work in terms of entrees. Just ask for them to come out together?

It seems like the service is more about the timing of courses than what is specifically ordered. I could ask Coyle but feel like I've pestered them a little too much lately.

Thanks for any insight.

I personally feel like it's not an issue to order your 'entree' from the appetizer section of the menu. My wife is a small eater so we do that with some regularity, and have never asked permission, nor been questioned about it.

I also don't make an issue about it in the report. Order the fish entree first and then just have your guest order the smaller plate to pair with it. I sometimes ask about the portion size for one of the other entrees, and then move to the smaller appetizer as an alternate.

The editor would have to an actually take the time to took at the restaurant menu in order to asses where the falafel was listed. I think that's rare these days (When I was editing I would do it regularly, but would also not ding you for that order). It def more about timing than what section of the menu the food is listed in...

Likely not, but I would reach out because Coyle Is very particular and you don't want to blow the shop assuming.
I thought I responded but I probably didn't hit return.

The shop went through just fine. I did what Steve recommended and we just ordered the entree and small plate at the same time. I requested that they come out together rather than the small plate with the mezze. All was fine and shop accepted.

One annoyance with the shop was that there was an obnoxiously flickering bulb at the dimly lit bar. Noted it in the questionnaire and also wrote about it in the narrative. Got a score of 0 and a note from the editor that one flicking bulb was not a reason to check "no" in the questionnaire section.

I get enraged at these nitpicky issues with editors but then feel like some of these individuals must be working hard to justify their employment in the age of AI.

I respectfully disagree with said editor.

Thanks, Steve. I always get super annoyed at these little editor things and then I'm over it.
What section did you note this in? Bar section or other? There are questions regarding lighting and its functionality elsewhere.
