I recently did two apt shops for them. The instructions say that you have to shop the same person over the phone and in person at the property. I did the phone portion and when I went to the property and asked for the Agent I talked to on the phone I was told that no one worked there by that name. It was when I told them I had made an appointment with them to view an apartment the workers told me that the person i talked to must have been from their calling Center. Now The company is telling me that My shops were cancelled because I didn't follow directions and shop the same person at the property as the phone. No where in the instructions did it tell me that I may get a calling center, how to handle it and the calling center Never told me They were not the actual property either. Has this happened to anyone else????? Im really interested in How to handle this.

If the shop instructions did not state to make sure you do not proceed on the call with a call center representative, then you did nothing wrong. Unless, the recording of that call has the person mentioning they were at a call center, then you would/should realize that you would not be meeting that person on-site. Did they say they would be the one to take you on a tour? Generally, the shop instructions may specifically state to be aware of that possibility or provide a sample of how the call center answers the line to give you a clue it would not be the leasing office. If none of those things occurred, as you state, I would email them asking them to make this right. And do not settle for $5.00, for the telephone call, because you did make a trip there in good faith.
