Has anyone done an energy drink reset for Customer Impact?

It’s a biweekly reset, both done on the same day, for a popular energy drink used to make the Jager Bomb. Just curious how long the resets generally take. They are in an area that I frequently visit and wondered if they are worth the hassle which are currently listed at $75 per visit on Presto.

These were my bread and butter for a couple months last year. It’s a double-edged sword because you never know ahead of time if the merchant will allow or refuse the reset. You could be there for 15 minutes or three hours. If they refuse, your pay will be cut unless you work out a deal otherwise. Ask about that before you sign up. If a reset happens and it’s a small store that doesn’t stock much of the product, it won’t be bad. If they have 8 shelves of product that’s moving from the far left cooler to the far right…let’s just say you’ll be earning your money. The other vendors do not have to help you move product.

If you do this: be clear with the project manager on what the pay will be for locations where the reset is rescheduled or refused. Bring waterproof gloves and a jacket - you may spend a lot of time in the cooler. Bring a box cutter but be careful using it - the cans are thin and one small nick will have it spewing product. Prepare to come home sticky and dirty. Print out the POGs and do your best to label them beforehand. The ones I worked off were small pictures, and the cans all looked alike. If you get lucky and the rep for the drink brand or distributor shows up, ask for their phone number.

I did two stores a day, Monday through Friday. I'd say about 40% of my locations refused the reset.

drdoggie00 is spot on. A lot of half fees for refusals. And when you do one where you have to move everything to another spot, you will be tired afterward. But it was decent money at a time when no other jobs were around.

They’re offering double that pay here any nobody is biting. It doesn’t help that they won’t answer Qs about how long you have to be in the cooler. No way, no how.

That's because they do not know how long you'll be in the cooler at any location. It depends on how much product the merchant has and how much assistance you receive from the distributor/brand rep, if they're even there.

If you do two stores, I'd block them off as a half-day and consider yourself lucky if you get a refused location.

Last year when I did some on these I was usually scheduled to be there at the same time with the Pepsi and Coke reps. The reset was a group effort since all the brands got moved in the cooler. We then took separate lunch breaks and met back up at the second location for the day.
If I was ever scheduled a location on a different day than “the team” it was a pain because I would have to move their products out of my way before I could put my items in the correct spot.

Must be able to lift or carry up to 50lbs was a no-go for me. I don't carry a separate policy for independent contractor's workmans comp insurance either, lol. Sounds like strenuous physical work and sciatica. I wonder why some stores refuse the resets? I also wonder if this gig is similar to the reset/merchandiser jobs that the major beverage distributors always have posted; one starts @ $21hr another lists - Hourly Pay Rate: $20.83 - $26.04 plus mileage reimbursement.

If you work with beverages, you earn your money the hard way. That's strenuous work, and there's a reason why you see so many young guys doing it. It takes its toll on the body.

The resets were refused for numerous reasons, but the most common was usually because the store carried a lot of non-Coke and non-Pepsi products (milk, juices, etc.), and the new layout didn't leave them enough space for all of it. Sometimes, they'd want to reschedule for a later date to allow them to sell some of that merchandise.

Some were refused because they thought the new layout stunk. These were independently-owned mom-and-pop stores, not corporate locations for a major chain, so they could do what they wanted.
