Coyle reports

I have done about 5 of these recently and this is weighing on my mind. 1- Why do they have all these questions that I have to type "NA" over and over? Example- I do a restaurant visit and do not visit the bar. I have to still complete a lengthy bar questionnaire. 2- why can't they have a character counter built in as some of our other companies do? 3-Is there an easy way to save the reports without having to do multiple screenshots? I could cut my report time in half with these modifications.

Regarding #3, I've been able to save a copy of the report to PDF before submitting. With Shopmetrics, I've been able to do this with the PDF displaying cleanly. If it doesn't come out cleanly, you may have to select/highlight the report, and then print to PDF. To note, I use Chrome as my web browser.

Not specifically Coyle, but I know similar MSCs discourage saving reports and repurposing narratives within reports. Just something to note and be aware of it in case it happens, where I ran into issues like this some years ago, and have been asked to ensure repeat visits are unique and independent from each other. It's not efficient, but for Coyle and similar MSCs, I have gotten into the habit of writing the narratives from scratch.
1-The person who builds the reports is either too lazy to build in a master n/a for the section, or too inexperienced at the software function, or both.

2/3-This is a combined answer. Character count is a software feature. Coyle does create the Shopmetrics software. They just program and utilize it, so if the software doesn't provide this feature, you can not have it in the reporting software.

That said, if you are not writing your narratives in a word processor that will give you character + word counts, saving each narrative on your own and then pasting into the software, you are doing wrong IMHO. You should not be typing narrative directly into the form. That's a recipe for disaster sooner or later.

The longer answer is that the MSC does not care about the time it takes you to finish a report. They have instituted policy and software changes over the past decade that have clearly demonstrated that. Situations where the form designer could have spent an extra hour or two proofing a checklists for duplicates, creating master n/a buttons, having narrative boxes in the right locations, etc. show shortcuts taken on their end that might take an additional 15-30 minutes for evaluators on each report, not to mention additional time in editorial.
I don't think they know how to use ShopMetrics very well. Its the worst implementation I've seen. They don't even have searching by location set up correctly (ahem I am in NY, but when I search in a 100 mile radius I get hotel shops in Tel Aviv?). It would be nice if they could figure this out because it just adds another layer of time waste on top of their VERY long and narrative heavy reports!

But I don't see this changing. They don't seem interested in the IC's experience.
