Mercantile Systems is dead to me

Had an audio recorded storage shop scheduled for today. When I logged into GigSpot where the shop is hosted I was greeted with a notice that my shop was overdue, despite said notice indicating today's date.

Mildly miffed, I clicked on the shop in an attempt to print the survey. It's a brand new (to me) project, and one that requires use of a specific phone number for the callback info, so I wanted to have hard copy to make sure I covered all the bases.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I could not find a link for a printable version of the survey in GigSpot, and Chrome would only print what's showing on screen at the time.

As the address info and the specified phone number were close to each other in the online report, I got them centered on screen and printed out the resulting page.

By the time I retrieved the printed document I had received a text from MS thanking me for completing the shop.

WTAF?!?!?!?

I barely had time to squeeze the shop in today, and I definitely do not have time for such BS.

Outta there!

I completed a single shop for Merc approx. 17 yrs. ago; their payment terms were net 45. After many broken promises, I was finally paid in 101 days, upon which I terminated our agreement. Two yrs. later, a scheduler contacted me requesting a reestablishment, but I declined.
Once again with the Terminator's one and done :-)

Mercantile has paid me consistently on time over the years. They do not have many shops that I am willing to do. Most of the shops do not pay well, so I'm not a big fan of the MSC, but they do pay on time. I do not know the circumstances behind Terminator Bob's experiences, but mistakes can happen. I usually am not quick to cut off a company over something like this especially if other shoppers are having a good experience.

They have a Guatemalan chicken (grilled or fried) fast food shop that is pretty good food. The reimbursement is far, but there is NO pay or extremely low pay. The food is overpriced, so if I am dying to have the food, I will take the shop just so I save $20 out of pocket going on my own. The report is simple enough.
I liked working with them and had good experiences with the recorded storage shops - many years ago when the fee was $50. Since the fees have continued to drop, I have continued to ignore their opportunities.
Daddy comments--..........mistakes can happen.

Bob agrees--After my first pay contact, three more were necessary before I received my reimbursement. That is why the situation was strung out over 101 days. That being the case, Daddy's employment of the plural MISTAKES was accurate.
I agree with the Terminator's disappointment with the MSC. My only point was that 1 bad experience is not always a reason to cut a relationship.

Now if others are expressing the same complaints and concerns, then I think the 1 experience for me would be enough to stop. But if everyone else is saying wonderful things, I think I would give them another chance provided it is a shop I like/willing to do.

If we cut off every MSC over a mistake, we quickly would run out of MSC that we could shop for. I love some of the MSC that I do work for, but I think each one of them has made an error at some point in my 20 years of working for them. None of them are perfect. I would terminate them if the errors persisted, but they have not.

My experience was definitely not AN error; I received 3 lies concerning my pay. In addition, from 45 to 101 days is, from a pay standpoint, a considerable passage of time. Finally, as you have surmised, I am completely comfortable with the termination and do not miss Merc a single iota. The single shop I completed had a zero fee and, although we ordered the least expensive required items, approx. $8 were needed from me to cover the bill.
I used to like doing the bar integrity shops for them for a local chain in Dallas. I thought the scheduler was easy to work with.

Luckily I've never had any issues with late payments from any MSC outside the contracted timeframe. And I don't sweat a day or two like some people do, especially if the pay date falls on a weekend.
