Hotel shops

SQM has a new program for a large chain. Unlike one of SQM's other clients this is not an upscale chain but any measure, and you only get reimbursed 50% (of the very inexpensive rate), but the guidelines imply that the form is very easy and you seemingly have a choice of staying from one to four nights. This would probably be a better option for route shoppers looking to save on lodging than for someone looking for a romantic getaway. If anyone does one of these shops let us know how it goes.

Ditto. Any insight into experience working w/ SQM is appreciated. I signed up but never ended up doing anything with them yet.
The 50% reimbursement is a deal breaker for me with SQM. I find that quite absurd. I certainly do not want to support a company that won't even cover reimbursement.
I found the whole thing very odd myself. They wouldn’t cover 100% of 1 night but they’re fine with 50% of up to 4 nights. How does that math work? Not sure what the calculus was here but it feels weird for sure.
Just wanted to post an update on the approval/payment for two hotel shops I did for Coyle. Not sure if this helps any.

Each report got approved/accepted around two weeks after it was submitted. Also, for this specific client, the first folio got reversed around two weeks after the report was accepted. For the second shop, I anticipate it will be the same timeframe for the folio to be reversed. The cash payments and travel reimbursement were approved for the next payment cycle.

So far, in terms of payment, I had good experiences with this specific client and Coyle.
I have performed evaluations for this Coyle client for around 3 years now, and evaluated around 10 of their hotels. The guidelines are much clearer than they used to be. The client has a great selection of properties of a generally high standard. I do however find their evaluation app a little tedious. It is very SLOW uploading photos. I'm not sure if it's just my iPhone but scrolling through the camera roll to find a photo can take a long time, and that is because of the app, not that I took the photo 100s of photos ago! The reports are also of a reasonable length given the evaluation criteria.
