I was just cancelled from a job at Jack because of my age.! I have been doing this for years and never had this happen.

If you mean the Jack Network? The Mexican restaurant client Is very particular about age and will not approve anyone outside of the age range they set.

I recently inquired about this client. Unfortunately, I was told that the client discontinued the program. Such a bummer. It's a place I frequent often.

Ohhhh, that's what happed. Bummer.
TJN’s Mexican client (and its sister tapas client) are both still being shopped in my area with lots of availability on the board.

Age limits based on a client’s targeted demographic (as opposed to necessity because of age verification requirements) are unfortunate, but it’s worth remembering that a good way to keep more of them from being put in place is to avoid writing a shop report that fails to take into account the client’s concept — I remember reading about a similar client that had an issue where older shoppers complained that the music was too modern and too loud. Of course younger shoppers could make the same mistake shopping a client that is geared towards an older clientele.
Need to see if you terminated them before :-P

Have you ever done business with a new company that might have merged with another? Or any association to the terminated company poisons the merged company?

Bob requests--Please share any former name(s) the Jack Network used as an MSC.

The paternal Golden Bear astutely inquires--Need to see if you terminated them before :-P

Bob replies--Of course. I completely discount mergers and place them in the same category as second chances. I neither have nor do suggest other shoppers take such a position; it works for me.

On a related note: At least one MSC, of which I have knowledge, is on their 4th name and another their 3rd. HMMMMMMMM!

Hm, if you don't mind me asking, which area do you shop? Maybe we are talking about different clients. The one I'm talking about originated in Dallas, TX back in the late 80's, but was acquired by another company seven years ago. I did a search of 999 miles, but wasn't able to find any.

I'm not aware of any. I'm new to this MSC, and followed a client to this MSC. The client was previously shopped by the smart company.
I know they had a different name when I signed up with them way back when. But I don't know what it was. And the only shops I've done for them, that I know of anyway, have been Greek(ish) restaurant shops on Presto.

They used to be known as Confidential Consumer
It isn't the MSC that sets parameters, it's the end client. If they are looking for opinions of a given demographic, that's what they are looking for and the MSC has no say in the matter. Same is true of many of the questions that are asked. All end-user driven.
I am still bummed about aging out of my favorite clothing store shop. It happens. However, as others have pointed out, a lot of companies really are trying to target a certain age group in their marketing, and that filters down into their need for shoppers of whatever age. What we are doing is marketing research by another name. On a brighter note though, as soon as you age out of one thing, something else opens up.
