Presto Visa DEBIT card shops

To those who have done them successfully: The price MUST be on a menu board? Not on a menu? Just checking - there are a couple that I'm willing to take chances on.

Other comment: How can the ms co be called dishonest - they cannot submit the results of our shops if they do not accept them and they cannot get paid for them. We as IC's know that we must accept the cost if our shops get rejected. Just an observation.

Menu pictures are perfectly acceptable. I have done many

I've been enlisting my son, he orders something for cash and I use my card. We did our second one of these at a place I've been trying to go to while they are open for 8 years. It took several tries, the building looks abandoned. They are only open for about 6 hours per day, all of which are when I'm normally asleep or not ready to leave the house yet, and most certainly before I'm ready to eat food. I don't understand how restaurants survive only being open during the day.
Head ups! Some of these assignments are now listed on the MSC's native Sassie job board and they post an additional "Special expenses" amount (but do not explain what that means). Sounds like that's the original, "If there's nothing in the price range we will reimburse up to $20." But the pay itself is not bonused.

The other day I did, in my eyes, a perfect shop for small business. Pics were perfect, receipts matched, prices, everything perfect. Shop rejected. I appealed with a detailed comment and I got a response that said... You are right, my apologies, I will correct and accept the shop.

So explain that to me. The reason for rejection was you must purchase two of the same items at the same price. I clearly did. There can be no mistake in this case. So if I didn't appeal, what then? I'm not sure how the inner workings go but that seems shady to me.

I rarely do these but will do a few when I know I can get everything I need. I need to be familiar with the location.
The entire premise for these is ludicrous, IMNSHO. Even if I was in a position to fork out cash and wait for it to be reimbursed, I'd never consider them.

First one I saw was for my favorite watering hole in town, and I got all excited.

Then I read the details and went all WTF?!?!?

Have synthesizers, will travel...

It's starting to feel shady. There were several that I've done where there was nothing under $20 so I purchased something that was around $10-$12. I would only be reimbursed the $8. And if I didn't double check my pay, I would have been out that amount. It doesn't make sense for them to not adjust the reimbursement since I make a comment in the shop notes about it.

By the way, they changed the guidelines so that you either have to skip the shop if they have nothing under $20 or go over reimbursement and pay out of pocket. There is no partial payment for finding a shop that only sells products/services over $20.

I saw those. I was almost suckered in, until I realized it was "special expenses" and not a bonus.
To answer a previous post, I did one at an ice cream shop a while back, and a picture of the menu board was accepted.

I have another question - I've seen several for places that obviously do not have prices listed (or anything for less than $20). Has anyone completed one of these shops? Two that stick in my mind are:

1) a credit union (there are a couple of other businesses inside this building, but the shop has the name of the credit union on it)
2) a company that rents out office space/conference rooms by the year, month, or hour (yes, I'm serious - by the hour!)

I'm willing to take some of these on, if they are quick and simple "not able to complete" jobs, but I was wondering what everyone's experience with them was.

If I recall all these shops were at nail salons. Still don't know what special expanses would be.
I travel extensively for my real job, and rent conference rooms all over the country "by the hour" and is not as scintillating as it sounds. I just need a place to have a meeting with customers!

On the 'Could not Complete" for this project, be careful. Sometimes they give you $1 for that. Sometimes its nothing if the Editor wants to argue with you about whether or not the shop could be completed. And then sometimes you get half pay. There is no consistency, so its a crapshoot. But the only thing guaranteed is nothing.

I have a Visa debit card with the account numbers on the back. There is no visa logo on the back only on the front. I have used this card for this shop and had them approved more than 5 times.

Yesterday I got a shop sent back to me saying they needed a photo showing the last 4 of card number and visa debit.

I sent an email with attached photos of receipt and both sides of card. I mentioned the report only has space for one photo of debit card, what should I do. The response was they needed 1 photo with last 4, with vis debit.

They suggested that I use a mirror to take the photo.

I tried, I could not hold the card, cover everything on back but last 4, see visa debit on front, and take photo with phone. I do not have enough hands.

I resubmitted it with new photos of the receipt and card. I mentioned in comment section about visa numbers only on back of card.

If this gets rejected i hope i can win on appeal.

***** update It got approved!

THIS drives me crazy because I have the same type of visa card. I only submitted photo with last 4 numbers on back and could not get logo in the same picture. I did not have a shop rejected for THAT reason. This is so ridiculous because there is so much inconsistency amongst the editors. They have no accountability. If you don't get it approved, just go above the editor. If that is the only reason for rejection, that is ridiculous. You MUST win!
These are the only shops showing on Presto. I have not done any of them. It's a lot of money to lay out and it seems like there is a high rejection rate. Is anyone liking these jobs?
@galct, take a picture of the front and the back, and then create a collage of both photos using Google Photos or your built in photo editor. Just select both pix, and then select "make collage".

Hope that works for ya!
Or you could scan the front with the debit logo and print it. Put the physical card on the printed paper and take a photo of the printed front and the actual back. Pretty simple. Or if you need to block out a portion of the number, scan the back. Print that image and mark through a portion of the number. Put the physical card (front-side up) on the paper and take the photo.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
It does seem like much more work. Since these are designed to be done on the road, most shoppers will not have a scanner with them. I appreciate the original post, though, because many cards now have the numbers on the back which I hadn't thought about because I still have the older kind. I'm surprised that the MSC and editors are not aware of this. Not really. They are aware, of course. They just like making shoppers jump through multiple unnecessary hoops before rejecting shops anyway.
After you make the photo (scanning, or another way), just save it on your phone and use it for each shop.

They don't care about this one. I used to use the same photo of my card for every shop. It would give me the warning but you can still submit and nothing was ever said about that.
This must be a different shop than the one that I've been doing. The ones I've been doing aren't asking me for a picture of my card, and I wouldn't give them one if it did. I'm getting pics of signage, receipts, and the location. All of the ones I've done so far have been accepted. But I'm really only going for the free lunch.

It is the same shop. They added a slot for a photo of your card (not all the numbers, just the last 4 and the word 'debit') for receipts that only say 'Visa 1234' and not 'Visa debit 1234'
They just want to verify you actually used a debit not regular credit Visa card.
viv, I just did one a couple days ago, and I have 2 more scheduled to do tomorrow. There is no place for a pic of my card. And like I said before, they won't get one. I'll just abandon the shop and not do any more of them.

Are you using the app or on the Sassie site? The app has a place for it, don't know about Sassie.
viv, I'm doing them on Presto. I just did two more today. well, one more, the second one is closed on Mondays and I didn't know it. So we're going to go back on Wednesday or Thursday.
Datagirl and gaict - I love the mirror suggestion from IPSOS...more proof that they TRULY have NO clue! I tried that and it worked, but I it was tough...real tough! also...My first dozen of these shops were picked up on the same day IPSOS posted them...and they were all at $40...then everything after that day was posted at $14 and $20...Now, almost everything is posted at $14. Somehow, IPSOS got a lot of pressure to get one special nail salon done, and they bonused $66 for it, except, well, it was closed during normal business hours...I expected that one to be rejected, but I did every thing right and it was "received" at half the fee but at full bonus. I think I will quit while I am ahead! I am afraid I am going to sprain my fingers if I try that mirror trick again!

My husband isn't banned from them so I can still see the shops (he won't do them as the risk is too high)
The slot for this photo is right above the example photo of a receipt and the receipt photo slot for the debit purchase.
I still don't know why they changed these shops from the original debit/credit format.
I will forever be baffled.........
FYI, a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke is not the same as a 2 liter bottle of Coke. You don’t say what the items were but different flavors or 1% and 2% milk, while priced the same are also not the same product.
viv, I don't know what to tell you. All of mine have been accepted and paid, except for the one I did Monday. It has been accepted. And like I also said, if they want a picture of my card they can pound sand.
