When the tip question was first added to the questionaire I did several of these shops and dutifully entered the actual tip amounts. After the reports were submitted, the only amount showing to be paid to me were the fees and the total amounts of the two purchases, sans tips. And my totals, with tips, were under or at exactly $8.

So tell me it's false, I'm lying. It's okay. We all understand this MSC's modus operandi. Heck, at this point, I would expect nothing else.
The truth could be verified if anyone on the inside actually looked into the matter. It's simple enough. Look at the reports from any random shoppers who claimed tips on the reports and then look up how much each shopper got paid, in total for each report. Compare the numbers. They won't match. What the guidelines state, as we all well know, are not always what actually happens or is required, so referring to them is not an answer or a valid defense.
Is it possible wires are getting crossed on this one? Two different-but-similar types of shops?

The buy-2-identical shops were pretty fiddly, and I don't recall if tips were reimbursed but I think the stated rule was no. But there was a more recent batch of single purchase cards that I would call "Do you have the right card?" Some of those were Visa Debit. Others stayed on the board for ages because I didn't even know Amex Debit was a thing. And those definitely did reimburse tip. I remember specifically checking because I wasn't sure if it would or not.

So dpaone may be telling the truth but not referring to the same shop sestrahelena is.
That is possible but the name of the thread specifies what (one) card we're talking about. If there is a misunderstanding then it falls on the person who made a quick judgement without actually reading the topic. Then again, some MSCs are well known for their lack of QC in the management arena.
I'm late to the party on this one. For buy two of the identical item in separate transactions with VISA Debit and Cash, I only tried the last round of restaurants posted. I haven't had one where the purchase subtotal was less than $8. But on the guidelines I downloaded, it doesn't mention tip. On the report, it states to enter tip separately from the total amount on receipt.

For the other shop, card type acceptance (Discover/AMEX/Mastercard Credit/Debit), I never tried a restaurant one. But on some shops, it included shipping fees, third party delivery fees, tips, etc. All of those charges got included in the reimbursement. (BTW, my favorite shops!)

The one difference I did notice between the two separate reports/shops, is that:

VISA Debit and Cash - Enter total amount from receipt, including taxes and fees. Do not include any tip. Separate field to enter tip.

Card type acceptance (Discover/AMEX/Mastercard Credit/Debit) - Enter total amount from receipt, including all taxes, fees, and tips.

Edited to add: Forgot about Mastercard!

It sure is taking the MSC representative a long time to compose an apology for publicly posting false information. (Yeah, I'm feeling snarky)
There's a leftover debit card shop in my area that's up to $75. The place is supposedly a tanning salon, but according to Google, it's closed. Presumably if that's the case, I'll only get $5 instead of $75 and clearly not worth driving the half hour to get there. I wonder why no one closer to it has taken it yet?
