Presto Visa DEBIT card shops

well, if that's a new round it's very skimpy. maybe they'll add more soon? There are exactly 2 in my part of the state, and one of them is a bar. Cross my fingers and hope for more soon..

The leftover $30 locations reappeared this morning. (April 19 @ 6:54 am)
yep viv, but they are all nail salons and beauty parlors. I would have done them a long time ago if they were something I could use.
I don't do many of these but I saw one at a local sub shop that supposedly had great subs. I checked online and saw the interior photos showed a nice huge menu board...easy, me thinks, to get the price of the item..Two turkey subs here I come.

So, I go today and what do you know, the menuboard is old, worn, faded and not current. The guy is ignoring me while he's real busy making sammies. He finally asks what I need and I ask him if he could possibly write the price of the turkey sandwich more clearly on the menuboard as I couldn't read it. Well, he starts yelling at me to get out and go somewhere else...Yikes..this is not going as planned.

I order a sandwich that I didn't want because it had a barely visible price. Actually I ordered two...great...When I go to pay I find the price is way more than what was on the board..of course it was. No signs and I was charged more for using the debit card...No cash receipt because the "register is broken." Thankfully, he scribbled out a handwritten receipt. The place was a real dump. I will never go back good subs or not. Anyway, I was very pleased the shop was accepted quickly, however, I didn't make much on it and probably won't eat the ham, cappicola and provolone sandwich I didn't want.

MsJudi,

It sounds to me that this was a place that failed the first shop, where the app didn't pay the shopper.

Then he got the feedback from the first rejected shop and was upset because he was being shopped again.

I have no proof, but it was something other than you ordering a sandwich that set him off.

He's comfortable with his regulars who don't need a legible menu. He has nothing to gain by updating his menu board.

Do you really think mom and pop places with a loyal following are going to sweat loosing their credit/debit card capabilities?

I am getting my car fixed. He told me he needed to charge me 2% more if I used a credit card. Another vendor was cash only. And I was okay paying $45 cash for services rendered.

It's possible but I don't think he was up on what I was doing. He was moving around at light speed and was just plain nasty. He seemed extremely stressed out. He told me I can not tell him what to do (I only asked for the price to be written more clearly). He told me just to ask for the price. I was just so disappointed in not being able to get a turkey sandwich, which I probably should have ordered anyway, but was afraid that since the price wasn't showing, they wouldn't accept the shop. So I spent almost $26 on two sandwiches. UGH..menuboard showed price of small sub at $4 and large at @$9. I got large thinking I'd max reimbursement..stupid on my part, especially since the prices were not correct and he never told me the price for the turkey after all the yelling. I'll mostly pass on these in the future.

Last one I did, I got a pedicure and the woman cut my toe. It still hurts. I'll stick to my known entities for my business.

speaking of bars.... it the only thing under $8.00 is a draft beer, can we purchase those/...or is alcohol not allowed? ( I wrote Ipsos two emails regarding this last week, and....you guessed it! "...crickets..."
Ms. Judi - there are so MANY variables, as your post shows....no menu, bad menu board, no printer, broken printer, no cash receipt, Visa debit receipt but no indicator on it that it was a VIsa payment....no receipt at all and, as in your example....a warm (facetious) reply of "HIT THE ROAD!" from the employee. I had one person just stare at me and say, "Why?" when I asked for receipts....ugh...sometimes this program is a breeze...sometimes it is pure hell....the big brains at Ipsos just are too stupid to understand the nuances and variablew we encounter!
Latest on the Visa card program...today, I kid you not, an Ipsos "lead editor" for this program wrote me asking for a FULL photo of my Visa debit card (all numbers, expiration date, etc.). And, if I didn't provide it, I was not going to get paid. Does that smell like SCAM, or what?!!! I already have HUGE concers about taking a photo of even part of my card, so why would I do this?????? Ipsos is out of control...Jackbooted stormtroopers on the loose!

You can purchase alcohol

Don't do it. Somebody's scamming you. Best to report it to a project manager. And send the email proof.

I'd love to see the proof of this. Send it directly to me, where the editor asked for the FULL card number. This is absolutely not something we do.
@MsJudi that is very gutsy to tell the guy to write the prices on the board. Didn't they have a printed menu with current prices? It seems at some point you should've asked for prices so you could figure out how to max the reimbursement. If you asked him for a few prices without being obnoxious, it might've dawned on him to update the sandwich board. Not knowing either one of you, I agree with the sandwich nazi. You can't tell him what to do or how to run his business, but you can ask for prices.

I don't understand why you would try to max the reimbursement on something you don't want to consume? If I was doing this shop and they were selling turkey sandwiches which I enjoy for $1 and a cauliflower and mushroom sandwich for $7 which I hate, I would buy the two turkey sandwiches.

@wrosie what makes you say that the merchant might've gotten feedback on a rejected shop? DP could shed light on this, but we've all seen the same shops appear in the different iterations of this shop and I don't get the impression that the merchant is getting any feedback on requirements. I can think of one location that has been listed on more than 2 rounds that did change and has signage.

Who is the lead editor that sent this email? Initials at least?

Are you sure it came from the correct email? Also, if it doesn't say debit on the receipt, you are supposed to submit a pic of the card showing the last 4 only and the word debit and the card program name. If it doesn't show all of that on the same side, then you take a pic of both sides, but only showing the last 4 digits.

What is the concern of taking a photo of even part of the card? The last 4 are almost always on the receipt. You are sending pics of the receipt. I am not sure if you can hide the bank name on the card or if the editor wants to see that. If you have a Citi card, the first four will be one of a defined set of numbers.
I have experienced some VERY wary shop owners after the first round, or two. They know somehow.
@sestrahelena I am sure they don't know. They are probably wary because they are not used to getting attractive looking customers like yourself and figure it must be a set up.

Let's face it, it isn't natural to ask for an itemized receipt on both purchases that are back to back and identical like that. That action alone has to trigger some level of Spidey sense.

When I do a gas station shop and ask for a receipt for the 69¢ peanuts, they are like seriously? And you want a receipt for the $2 of fuel you pumped? You aren't even on a motorcycle, why would you only pump two dollars worth of gas. Who does that?

The prices were handwritten on the menuboard..Some were there and most were not. There was no printed menu. I was not being obnoxious. Haha..their website stated to check their menuboard for current prices...so that's what I was attempting to do. The turkey sandwich was not priced, hence I didn't think I could buy it. I was hoping the other purchased sandwiches would be good, but they were just ok..not my thing. Thanks for the support..LOL

we did one of the smoke/vape shops last night, that was interesting. I learned that I don't know enough about edibles to stand up long enough to find what I'm looking for. I ended up buying the only thing in the store that fell under reimbursement. There were ZERO prices on the shelves, there were some bongs and pipes that had individual prices on a tiny price tag, but ALL of the price tags faced away from the counter. I found a candy jar that had individually wrapped gummies for $6 each. Now I have to read and research all of the things is says on the candy jar, because I don't recognize a lot of the things they say is in them. But I did find a price on the candy jar, and I did make the required purchases, after being at the store for 45 minutes and having the guy behind the counter hand me every single gummy package in the store and tell me the price.
I get a chuckle out of hearing these stories. I did a smoke shop too and felt so out of my element. I ended up buying a package of incense for a couple bucks because it had pricing on it. That was when the fee was low too so it wasn't really worth my time wandering around the store.

I went to another smoke shop and decided to buy a lighter. There was no sign about minimums, but I had to buy something more expensive to use my card. I said I would keep looking around. The cashier just looked at me funny and said he would just give me his own lighter. I was caught off guard and took it. I never completed the shop.
Please, and thank you?

only mystery shoppers and do you honestly believe that the clueless kids of today running the register even notice. And it really pains me to say we've raised a generation of idiots.
You could just blot out the personal details so you can't be ID'd and cut and paste the email here.

Once they know who it was sent from, I'm sure that they'll be able to figure out who it went to from their end.
They are back for another round! Looks like there are just a few minor changes. Salons require both purchases again, and the reimbursement is back down to $8. You are allowed to purchase gift cards for the salons only. As if anyone would ever buy an $8 salon gift card, nonetheless two back to back with different forms of payment. Pass.

Thanks for posting this. They had a Cold Stone location near me so I took it. It appears that the shops do not start until Monday, 5/13 and it says that I have until 5/15 8am to submit it, so I have two days to complete it, not 12 hours after I accept to submit it like they usually do. Also took a local bagel place, I can get a half dozen in two separate orders.

They even have Walmart near me but I don't know if I can do it by Tuesday. Also not sure what I'd buy identical on two orders since my WM does not have a full grocery department.

Several days ago I received an email saying that the red pin Visa shops were back. I've looked for them every day since then, and there are none anywhere near me. I even signed out so that I could see all of the shops that they don't show me because I don't qualify for them (age compliance shops). Still no red pin Visa shops. I guess I'll wait.
