Payments from Mystery Shop

Is anyone else having trouble collecting from this company? I did a single shop in November because I was in the area at the time on another shop. This was suppose to be paid by the end of December. I have reached out, and got one reply saying they would “look into it”. That was two days ago, and I have not heard anything else. Am I going to get stiffed for a lousy $28?

EDIT: 1/11/24 Payment received today… after 6 emails, and 3 replies saying they were “checking into it”. No explanation received… just the payment.

Is this the company "Mystery Shoppers?" They also owe me $28, but the pay is due next month.
Sometimes you have to be careful and look at the payment schedules companies have. Some are paid at rather odd times and various schedules.
I did 3 shops for them within the same week. Their website states that “shop payment will go out at the end of the following month that a shop is completed.” I waited until the end of the following month for payment, which was still not received. I emailed them countless times with no response. I tried calling the phone number listed on their website which was disconnected. After 5 months from the time the shops were completed and endless attempts to contact them, I sent them a final email stating that my intention was to file a claim in small claims court for the amount that they owed me. Within an hour of sending that email, I received an email from PayPal stating that I had received payment from them. And to this day they have yet to respond or respectfully reply to any of my attempts to contact them outside of silently sending my very overdue payment. And to this day I have not done another shop with them or have intent to.
I did one other shop for them earlier last year. I had to send one email telling them I had not received payment. I got the deposit within a day. This time however… nothing. Obviously, I will never take another job for them.
In that all ICs either want or need their money, when one gives credence to the old story of the check being in the mail, PayPal screwing up and/or other lies, trouble is on the horizon. In my 20+ yrs. in this business, I only recall one company, About Face, being upfront about money issues. If that company still exists, I would not hesitate to establish a relationship.

The above is not meant to address tardiness of a few days.
I have done one shop for them during the pandemic, and payment was late. I reached out to the scheduler and received payment.
I don't recognize the name of the company, that doesn't mean I have never worked for them, or am not currently signed up, it just means I haven't done anything for them in many years. But I can say without hesitation that I will not work for a company that I have to remind them to pay me. Once is my limit. I will send one email, and whether or not I get paid after that, I won't make the mistake of trusting that company again.
Google About Face and Intouch Insight shows up.

Apparently, while I was gone a few yrs, there has been a lot of merging of MSC's huh?
I sent the emails through the contact on the job file. I sent one every single day saying things like “day three and still no payment or explanation”. I finally asked outright if they were having financial problems. Lo and behold my payment was received the next day. It took a total of eight days. Good luck!
A couple of years ago I did a shop for See Deep Consulting. They usually pay with in 30-45 days..

After the 50th day or so and no payment, I emailed them asking about it.. After three months I was finally paid.
It took over ten emails and I finally got paid. About a month late and three months after I completed the shop.

I have done a few shops for them over the past couple years. Every time I have had to contact them for payment. They have never replied, but paid after first message through the "contact" button on the job. This time, they owe me a decent bonus on the last shop and have yet to pay, more than two months later. I sent one message a week and a half ago. Nothing. I sent another one today.

Update: on my 4th request for payment, I demanded payment and said if I did not receive it, I would have to report them to the FTC as a fraudulent company. I had no response to my first three messages, but got a response and payment within 24 hours of my 4th. This was payment for a shop completed 2.5 months ago.

The owner Trish is unorganized and always doesn't send payment for completed assignments.

I too was missing several payments for over a years work. I had to mention BBB in order to get a response from her.

Even then, multiple excuses and dragging before she sent the very late payments.

I stopped doing shops for this company since Trish is obviously trying to cheat people and not pay for shops.
Ugh, I did a shop for them last month. I have received several emails about other shops (garden center shops) and I guess I will wait to get paid for the one I just did before taking another one. Fingers crossed there are no difficulties with getting paid!
Back in 2005, I completed a few jobs for an MSC that used a logo of three different colored shopping bags. I seem to recall they were in Chattanooga, the owner's daughter's first name began with a T and the company's name had Mystery Shopping in the title. Is this the same company?
Yes. She's been having a very hard time lately keeping shoppers paid. Although her clients are still there and always needing shops done.
In my area it's only a major car wash brand.

After reading all this, why in the world would you continue to do work for this MSP? It would be like having to chase after the cousin who bummed money off of you and won't pay it back.

This is nothing new with Mystery Shoppers, it's gone on for years. I took a bonused shop for them, knowing full well that payment would be slow and I'd likely have to chase it. It's been months, and I have yet to be paid. I've only contacted Trish once, and will do so again until I get paid. I can wait. The fee made it worthwhile to me.
