My Thoughts

I am old enough to know that nothing is fair, but you know what. We all decide which companies will make it or fail.

It's not how great that we are, but how willing we are to give the data that
is needed.

Yes, we get pissed if we get a point below a 10.

More companies are in need of "reporters" not english majors. They want to know what is going on in their stores. They don't really care if you say "Susie was 5'4" and greeted me warmly. She offered me a card to her store.

As an ex store manager, I want to see how many nickels and dimes are laying on her register. This tells me that she is keeping track of the money the register owes her. She can short you and keep track by the coins.

carefully slipped the 20 dollar bill into her apron as she wiped her blonde hair from her face.

If at the time, you have shorted a customer 5.20, put a nickel and 2 dimes on your register. Then take out 5.20 and put in you pocket. Then put the nickel and the 2 dimes in the register and you will balance,
When it comes to the folks helping us in the departments...well? Who the hell hired them? Shouldn't we be sitting in front of these people and seeing what they expect of us? "Try to Hire Me.". Somebody label this as my idea! New shops! Try to hire me. (Intensive report on what you were asked and what you were epected to do.)

Rich
I get the nickle and two dimes part but I don't understand the "try to hire me" shop idea. Sorry.

I think Rich is beisen. Rich is sexist, and so are the postings of beisen. Who REALLY does not understand the need to check bathrooms? It must be a troll, and then, here, one with an agenda.
Rich,
Get yourself a blog. This is not a site for your rambling thoughts.

Based in MD, near DC

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
What are you talking about?

Dude, you need to lay off the herb or think before you post because this series of posts makes no sense!

I laughed out loud at this response. Perfect.
In real life I have a degree in social work and counseling, I am certified by my state to recognize mental health issues when I see them. 'Nuff said.

I was thinking more alcohol induced depression than herbs and I do hear his frustration with the meaninglessness of a lot of what we do.

Rich, there are "integrity" shops out there and have been for a very long time. Many of us choose not to do them because they are 'gotcha' shops that could well come back to bite you if the dishonest employee sues over his termination. Court time is generally not paid time and if you read carefully your ICAs you will note that some of them indicate you need to provide your own attorneys if you are sued pursuant to a shop. One even has you paying THEIR attorney fees if a lawsuit transpires over a shop you have done.

As for "Try to hire me", there have been shops for that as well. Another type of shop I have never chosen to perform.
Lay off the booze Rich, when sober you have a great sense of humor, when drinking, rambling isn't working....give us a break!! Re-read your posts before sending.

Live consciously....

If you are trying to identity male posters based on the level of sexism in the comments, you have your work cut out for you...

Beisen's platform was that this job has great value and housewives were keeping the rate down. Rich doesn't seem to see the value of shopping.

Any businessperson who finds themselves thrust into the world of MSing will at some point start to question the sense of it, as it's a complicated and not very successful model in many cases. Many of my rants are based on that frustration.

We all just have to remember to take a deep breath and let it go when we are feeling frustrated, and to understand the place some of the frustrated posters are coming from. After all, isn't this the breakroom/water-cooler for shoppers?

...and what's wrong with being sexy? (<-that's a joke for anyone who may not have seen Spinal Tap)

I am not sure what you mean by this, but to me it is really neither here or there.

Although not in this one, but two other threads, Rich has made sexist comments that I found offensive. He just seems to think he has a good sense of humor. I still think he could be beisen, because this could be his latest effort to get people off shopping so he can shop more.
Sorry, I have been busy. What I meant was this...As a store manager, the girls would tell me great they were at being a cashier. Sometimes, I later saw them in handcuffs. Yes, they looked perfectly fine upon hire and checked out ok. They were counting what the register owed them with the coins. Sorry if I did not explain it properly, and thanks for those who refrained from throwing stones at me. But I still don't see what her OR HIM thanking me does for a shop.
Flash, that is a great point. Many of the shoppers do not realise that they as independant contractors are ALWAYS vunerable to court cases if the employee questions the reason that they were fired or demoted.
