Working w Non-MSPA Companies?

Sorry, I'm rather new here and if this has been discussed before, please feel free to provide the link to a previous discussion. I'm registered with MSPA-only companies at this time.

Are there those who have gone beyond MSPA member companies? Other than some code of ethics what is the difference between "honest" non-MSPA companies and MSPA companies that ya'll work for?

I don't expect a load of names in reply, as I'll be happy to do my own research.

I just need to know if performing this research is worthwhile to pursue as I have seen combined Mystery Shopper "list of links" containing both MSPA members and non-MSPA members.

Thank you! (<:

A very good question, cello,

I work for many non-MSPA companies that are highly ethical, pay on time, etc. It would certainly be worth your while to research companies outside of the MSPA list.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I as well work for a few not affliated with MSPA...just beware of any company that offers you money before you do the job, these are scams.

Live consciously....
I agree with walesmaven. I too work with many non-MSPA companies and find they range from unacceptable to excellent just as MSPA companies do. Remember that the MSPA is a trade organization of companies formed to represent the interests of its members. Paying dues to join the MSPA does not change the ethical values of a company any more than a shopper purchasing a certification from them changes the ethical values of the shopper.

Some of the non-MSPA companies are among my favorites, some among my least favorite. No matter what company it is, it pays to due your research on them up front, then if it seems viable, test the waters with a small, little to no cash outlay shop and see how they are to work with.
