DON'T work for these people - INTELLISHOP

I've worked with Intellishop for a couple of years. They are somewhat slow in paying. And, sometimes the editor of my reports is harsher than some of the other editors. (I really think it depends on who you get.) One thing that happened that was frustrating was a dining shop that I applied for, I did not receive approval until the morning of the date of the shop (and this was a lunch shop). I received a lower score on the report because I did not call the restaurant for reservations 24 hours before the shop. I did not receive the job 24 hours before so how could I have called them? I wasn't going to call and make reservations based on the assumption I'd be assigned a shop. The real reason that this is frustrating is that they don't give you a chance to explain, they just give you a rating. I don't do a lot for Intellishop anymore, but I still do work with them for certain shops.

Intellishop may not pay the best starting out, but they do allow me to, "Self-Assign". I have picked up filler shops as a result like other self-assign companies. They have paid good bonuses as well for other shops. I tend to notice mistakes on their guidelines as they state themselves as tough graders. But in the end, I have not found their reports too difficult. I do understand them.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

On most car shops, the sales man came with me and dictated the route....so are you supposed to be watching the clock instead of the road and when you see it is only 29 minutes, you take the car for an extra 1 minute joyride?
Extra minute joyride -- love it! I'll be sure to have a blast in the next inexpensive vehicle I drive.

I like working for these guys. Their editors are a little tough sometimes; but the schedulers have always been quite helpful.

When did they put a time requirement on the test drive at car shops? My test drives have been as short as ten minutes up to about 20 minutes.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I've never seen a 30 minute test drive. I would imagine a 30 minute test drive would piss off a salesperson even if you really were buying a car.

I actually had a test drive on an Intelli-shop assignment where the salesman gave me the keys to the car and pretty much said, "Have at it." Even in driving the car on that day, the test drive was 12 minutes. I cannot possibly imagine a 30-minute test drive with a salesman.
Now that I think about it; I don't think I've seen a requirement on the time. A requirement to elaborate if it takes a long time, or ridiculously short time, but not a time requirement.

jmitw - I am alwyas told where to turn by the salesperson. I have been on a 30 minute test drive. Even sitting in the car while they explain features does not result in a 30 minute test drive. Have you actually seen that requirement, jmitw?

I don't plan on working for them after tonight. I've done a few of those [brand-name removed] shops and watch shops for them. Usually, I'll receive an 8 or 9 on their reports. Tonight, they hit me with a 5 rating. They hassled me for a longer, detailed report on a watch shop. Their questionnaire makes it seem like it's straightforward, but it's not what it seems. The editors ask for recaps and information that's different from what's on the questionnaire. Essentially, they wanted a more thorough narrative, word for word. Yet, they hit me with a 5 because my narrative was too long. You can't have it both ways.

That's just my experience. Other people may think highly of this company. That's ok. Maybe it works for you guys. I just think they're a bit shady and their editors are stiff and pompous.
I'm with you. I am fluent in four languages and agree: $5.00 for translating IS a slap in the face........
I'm sorry to hear about this. I like Intellishop and even though they are not the highest paying, I will take assignments with them when they are in my area.

I also really like Shannon, one of the schedulers there. She is great to work with.

Car shops don't tend to be my favorites so I can kind of understand but the most important thing on any shop is to be objective and don't let your feelings cloud writing your report.
