DON'T work for these people - INTELLISHOP

I saw a restaurant shop (first one) that I didn't know they did. I applied and didn't get it, but my spirits are up seeing it. Who has done a steak house for them? I don't do brake shops, just go to the Honda dealer and feel no stress.

Well, I must say that Intellishop is up front about when you will get paid. So if you take a shop, then you will expect to be paid when they say. I have never had an issue with this company. They pay when they say they will pay. However, the details for the car shops are not equal to their pay.

Irene, is it fee plus, or reimbursement only sufficient enough to cover?

They have little here. Same old low paying shops.
Mert, I didn't get that far, I applied and got an email saying it was taken. I imagine reimbursement only...seems to be the way it is these days.

And the worst part about reimbursement shops is that they don't even usually cover the cost of the meal...
Bad news: Monterey's ripping me off as well. Their 24 hour deadline is really midnight. The system erases input after that.I e-mailed scheduler, called, emailed again at least thrice and called Ryan again today. Got a reply from the scheduler, at last. "The shop was picked up and finished Sunday" the 10th. The only problem is that car dealerships in New Jersey are closed on Sundays. So now my name, address, e-mail address & phone number are out there to get follow up calls from the sales force and I do mean force for no compensation.

Good news: Intelli, who does not claim to pay within 60 days and has one lazy proof reader and asks too much for too little is looking better.
Sorry about your experience with Monterey. I've only done one shop with them and I was not impressed either.
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with Monterrey. I've done a bunch of shops for them and would do more if they had more available. So far no problems with them.
Dear Austin Mom,
I glad for you.
Please... what time of the day do you shop, enter and submit them.
If you are in Austin it has to be done before 10PM (CT) am I right? or risk losing the data, the pay and time answering dealership calls.

Read the Monterey thread, interesting.
I shop the dealerships on weekdays, usually Wednesdays or Thursdays, either at lunchtime or early afternoon. They are too busy on Saturdays/Sundays, I don't like it to take a long time. All my dealership shops have been between 11 and 2:30. I enter the reports between 6 and 11 pm, either after I fix dinner or when I get back from a dinner shop. I never can wait until the next day no matter how tired I am; I work full time and won't have time the next day.
Thee is a small fee and a large reimbursement (can't remember who asked).

Having started mystery shopping in July, at this point I am owed about $250 from them, mostly in reimbursement (one $68 restaurant). What I can't figure out is how to even inquire about when I'll be paid. What am I missing on their site??
Thanks.
On the login page to their website is a heading called "Payment Questions?" that goes through what it takes to be paid, when you will be paid, how you will be paid and all of that. At the end of the payment FAQs is an email address in case you have further questions.
They're definitely slooow payers, but I've gotten paid. They pay around the 20th of the second month after your shop -- for example, the shop I did during the first week of July was paid on September 20th. If you shopped for THIS company in July, I would think that you should have already been paid...
Has anyone ever gotten a reply from Intelli? I've asked for clear statements of their needs and detail requirements. These would include the names, types, legal speed of the test drive streets/ county rds/ highways. In the past I was asked for this info.
On my last report I volunteered that the salesman pulled the car out, in reverse, to demonstrate the camera action, warning signals and the NAV system, etc...after two blocks he stopped so that we could switch places. I was asked to clarify if we stopped, traffic conditions and lights to justify a twenty nine minute test drive.I got an eight 'cause they had to contact me!
At times I feel sorry for these proof readers because their probes are a result of poorly written Client approved questionnaires. After a "submit" no shopper wants to hear from them again and would prefer to do a great job right from the onset and so I'm surprised that Intelli doesn't communicate an interest in hearing from their evaluators or remotely show an appreciation for shopper generated questions.
I have gotten a quick response when I e-mail them. I almost never do because I really don't want to communicate back and forth with the MSPs. I just want to take the jobs, do them, and get paid. If they want to send me feedback on my performance (what I've noticed is that MSP's feedback in general, not all MSPs, is pretty inconsistent and not very helpful so I don't much care about it), that's fine. If they give me a 10 and pay me I don't really care to get more e-mails unless I contact them.
I have been working for them quite a bit this month. I find Shannon (scheduler) to be on top of everything and great. I have been faxing in business cards, so, Shannon always tells me she got it, and I know I'll be paid.I am surprised by some that say they don't communicate, not the way it goes for me.

I wonder if they would abide by some of our rules. Like quesstions welcomed within 7 days of shop?......LOL
The "easy" shops turn out to be in depth.

Having trouble getting response from another scheduler (not Shannon), just won't answer back, pain in the ____.

Shut the front door!

I was accepted for a car shop from them today!

I'm going to read up on here and then decide, if I should keep it or not.
Hi Dad1962. A word of advice. Before you apply for a shop, be sure you're willing to do it. Schedulers don't look kindly upon cancellations. You will build a record with an MSP based on applying, shopping and submitting reports. Good luck with the car shop!
My experience with them is that they are not particularly well paying jobs and payment turn around tends to be slow but per their stated time lines. Perhaps their jobs in other areas are more interesting than in my area. I note I have not worked with them in 2010 at all and only did a very limited number of shops in 2009. I have a 10 average on reports with them, so it is not a problem of the reports so much as receiving better pay from other companies with less nonsense. When I look at their dealership shops I find that their fee is too little money to put up with a car salesman and the inevitable dealership follow up phone calls. My last dealership shop was $60 and had followup calls long after I told them we had decided to purchase a different make car so were no longer interested.
Do it....you'll have fun and gain a ton of experience. The pay is $20.00 (not bad for an hour). Read your instructions, don't ask for a test drive, let them offer. Keep a good memory of detail the Salesman told you, write it down as soon as you get in your car, and let us know how it goes. Remember to check you grammer and spelling. I do many of them for this MSC...it gets easier and you'll feel great about yourself, take the challenge!

Mert: Thanks for the advice and I do agree with you in principle, however, in fairness to shoppers companies should disclose the full details of a shop BEFORE being able to request a shop. I have only been given the full details after being accepted. I wonder why that is, its hard to make an informed decision with only half the information.

Irene_LA.: Thanks, I will do it! One requirement was to have a car valued at $7,500, my car is a BMW 04 of higher value and I was accepted anyway.

I would like to record the salesmen does anyone use a device or have a recommendation for some kind of an easy to use recording device.

Thanks everyone.
Understood. Bestmark is sometimes guilty of withholding needed info.

We've discussed DVRs quite a bit. Using the Search feature, type in 'recorder' and choose all dates. After the decision is made to stick with mystery shopping, purchasing one may make sense.
I am sorry to hear of your sour experience with Intelli-shop, but I ve been doing shops regularly for this company for over a year now and never had a slight problem with them.

I agree that Bestmark should disclose more information to us shoppers BEFORE we accept the shop. They do not let you know who their client is until the last minute when they email you details of the shop itself. I do not agree with this policy. And its the only MS company I know to practice it.

But having said that, after a few shops I kinda learned how to put two and two together and most of the time guessed right....but I insist we should not be subject to have to 'guess'. We need to know whom we are visiting on shop purposes before we commit ourselves to do the shop.
I over scheduled this month and had to cancel a job from Intelli (small), they sent an email releasing me and saying, all other jobs held are still intact. No problem, but I did give them a 5 daY notice...that's the trick, don't cancel without enough time for them to re-schedule.
