Onion Insights

Anyone ever heard of them?

I got this email but have not found out much about them except that they're located in India. I'm reluctant to sign up because of their location and my inability to find any MS info about them. What do you think?

The only place I have heard of them is when someone posted something similar on Violation. They are from India and are a real company, but that does not mean that the email was from them. Did it come through the MSPA? If it did not, personally, I would stay away as I am leery of companies that do not have websites.

I don't know anything about the MSPA. I'm not a member and don't intend to become one.

I don't know how these people got my email. I'm guessing that Sassie companies might share info??? I also saw the post on Volition and noticed that nobody had anything to say that was relevant. I was hoping somebody here might have a pertinent comment.

I don't really trust overseas companies, particularly from India. But, then again, I dealt with the company in Australia for a long time and never had any problems, except for late night phone calls.

Before becoming the guinea pig for this new MSC, I'd like to hear if anyone has any experience with them and go from there.

Thanks.
The MSPA has a directory of their members, which is why I check there for unknown-to-me companies. Onion Insights is not listed as a member company.

Which was my point. You never heard of them. You apparently do not have certification, so they did not find you through the MSPA. But they found you.
HOW???? Why would you even consider being a "guinea pig"? I would stay far away.

How? Well, probably the same way other companies that I've not signed up with have found me. Either schedulers share info or companies share info. I'm not too concerned with how they got it as I am with how legit they are.

I stated that I'm reluctant to sign up with them and have not done so. I won't until I hear/read something that validates them. As for being a guinea pig, what I meant was that, after hearing something positive, I don't mind signing up with lesser-known companies, doing 1 shop and seeing how it goes. I have no problem investing time into 1 shop to test how a company pays before taking on a series of shops for them.

Thanks for the MSPA advice. Although not all companies I work with are listed there, most are.
From what I understand Onion Insights was formerly known as DCS. They had payment issues back in 2008 and seemed to disappear. DCS was scheduled through KSS until KSS broke off ties due to non-payment. I would not suggest shopping for Onion Insights if their management or pedigree are still related to DCS.

How and why would anyone traveling to far off places want to do a job, and how the heck would you find the location not having access to an auto....just sayin....another way to get your info., with a promise off this planet.

Live consciously....
I made a mystery shopping for Onion Insights. I think they found me from Bare because Niyati Desai was working for Bare before. She had to take the shoppers info with her when she went to Onion. Well 40 days passed from my visit. No payment yet. I sent two e-mail to Niyati but she didn't answer yet.
Hi All,

We are a legitimate company based in India and are registered members of the MSPA - you can check our details on the MSPA website under member companies.

@lame1 - We are nowhere related to the companies you mention like DCS or KSS. We are an independent company in India that has been a year old and doing fieldwork across India primarily and in some other parts of the world as well. As well as, none of our management is from either of these companies that you mention.

All of you - feel free to sign up with us at www.onioninsights.info. WE do have a detailed Extended Shopper Profile - keeping in mind our Indian shoppers and the kind of shops we do in India. The data from the Extended Shopper Profile is not compulsary to complete - however it aids our schedulers in making the right choice of shoppers for various assignments.

In case of any further doubt or query, feel free to write to us at support@onioninsights.com

Thanks,

Guess What!!

I opened my mail today and I get yet another check for $3452.00, this time from Onion Insights. Never heard of them, did not sign up with them so I did a search on here and found this post.

Does anyone have any updated information on this company?

I know it's a scam but seeing I am working with the authorities on the other one, might as well give them this info also.

Would appreciate any known information on them. Due to above posting CMA.

Thanks ~

Cindy

Ps Other Scam won't give up...they keep calling me and I gave them Bank of America, Branch Manager's name to converse with!! He told me he would be happy to talk with them, in fact he made 4 calls to the numbers I was given but "for some reason" they won't answer their phone. ?? Caller ID ???
It would appear that your scammer is using the Onion Insights name, just as they have used the names of virtually every company out there in the past. I have no doubt but that the real Onion Insights is no party to this. You may want to contact them via their support@onioninsights.com email to let them know about the current scam.
Thanks Flash for the advice, I will do that now.

I asked my daughter if there is a BIG RED STAMP on my forehead that says:

SCAM ME!!!

Seriously, twice in one week. I have over $8,000 sitting here in checks and
Cashier's check. I wish it were real {{{sigh}}}

The other company is still calling me. I asked them where they got my information and she told me that I clicked on their advertisement... I did a Google search and it was one of the sites that came up.. very generic though..... I know, I know.....

I have learned............
All the opinions expressed above are right..

Onion Insight is a scam company with absolute no ethics.

They get the audits done but when it comes to payment they just pass on the buck from one person to another.

If u r sensible, never ever never do any audit with this company.

Initially they said that the payment would be made by the end of subsequent month, when there was no payment forthcoming, we contacted, they replied that it takes 45 to 60 "working" days for the payment. Evern after 60 days, now, the latest email states that 60-85 working days.....

So, run away from Onion Insight..There are hundreds of other companies who pay you on time and treat you well. Onion is sure not one of them.

Runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn..

There are hundreds of legit Mystery Shopping cos listed. Why take time to post all the obviously phishy ones. I would concentrate on signing up with known businesses.
I don't know this company but based on this thread, I wonder if their motto may be:

"Onion Insights. We stink and we make shoppers cry."

I did 3 shops for them in the last 2 yrs but haven't seen any shops in Canada recently. I think their investigations are done here as they were very specific and geared towards a government policy and procedure. I was paid promptly and I felt that the company was legit after researching them and also doing their report on the Sassie platform.
I've also seen threads on other forums about this company and there were no issues except perhaps payments that were a little late.
