Maritz

I have so so feelings with these shops. They are fast and very easy. BUT you are out usually at least $10 for each one until it is reimbursed. $10 is not that much except it is not like a restaurant or store where you are getting something for it. So if for some reason the shop is not accepted, you are completely out $10 with totally nothing to show for it.

Normally I would say a careful and experienced shopper would not have to worry much about this, except I have had Maritz reject one of my shops. After I redid the shop then say "Oops we're sorry, you did it right the first time."

Thanks...I'll just say no, didn't realize there was a cost. I do mail gift stuff monthly...your were out 10.00 or more having to re-do takes your time, I think they are a little careless.

The post office shops are really very easy as long as you don't go during a high traffic time of day or week. The reports are not too hard although a bit long and their computer fights you when you report deviations. I only lost my pay and shipping cost once because I only allowed 29 minutes between locations assuming that the receipt time was the official time. It is not they use the "watch times" that you report.

That is a peeve of mine when filling out their reports. For the last post office shop I did, I had to put a wrong answer for two questions and then explain what happened in the comments.

When I got in line there were two customers ahead of me and none being waited on because the employee was doing some computer work. She did not start waiting on anyone until I had been there three minutes.

The report would not let me put that two customers were in line and none were being waited on. I kept getting an error message that said it was impossible.
I have done many shops for Maritz and am pleased with their prompt payment compared to others where you have to wait 60+ days to be paid. I did 5 bank shops this past Saturday, took me 2 hours to drive, go in, get the info needed and return home. Took me another 1.5 hours to do the reports and scan, re-size and load the required docs to the reports. End result = 3.5 hours for $35. Not too bad.
Try and report that the location had neither a address nor zip code on the building and you will have an excellent example of software fighting you. A Maritz representative actually told me to just say "yes" to those questions as the customer was much more interested in the upselling part of the report.
Oh by the way Maritz people tell me that they do read this and Volition forums regularly but do not post. Forewarned is forearmed.
I don't mind the Post Office shops. I did a bunch of the $7 bank shops in the last three weeks and have decided they are just not worth it. Yeah, the report is easy, but in my bank, anyway, you spend just as much time talking to a banker to get the forms you need to scan in as you do in a platform shop that pays twice as much. Not to mention the driving time. Since I do this part time to supplement my full time job, I've decided my limited time is better spent on shops that pay more.

In the future I'll see what platform shops I can get, and then see if Maritz has anything available at the same branch in the same time frame.
I like Maritz a lot and do a lot of shops for them. I won't touch their $7 bank shops, simply not worth it to me, although I do their $15 bank shops and a few others. I love their unrevealed gas shops and will do as many as I can get every month!
I have done quite a few of these shops lately and one was bonused. They are very quick and easy. Everyone always has their uniform on... signage is always correct. Lobby is always neat, forms are always filled, etc. I am never saying no to any question when I do these....... I do not live in a highly populated area.
I love Maritz. I do the gas shops and post office and some banks. The banks don't pay alot, but I bunch them up with other shops, so it is not so bad.
The reps at Maritz are allways very nice and they pay on time. I like that.

I guess they must just get grabbed up quckly here because I have never seen a bonused shop with Maritz.
Yeah, I've gotten calls from them to do their $6 gas station shops, and have always been refused a bonus.
Back when I used to work for them they offered to pay an expensive bridge toll for me to go out on an orphan shop on a barrier island. I think I was offered a couple of bucks bonus for the 60 mile round trip that would have taken around 4 hours due to tourist season . . . I can't check my records to see the bonus offered because I turned them down.
Beyond not offering bonuses Maritz has also declined any requests I have made for same even when several of the shops were in outlying areas and appeared to never be taken by the end of the month.
I just really wish they'd maybe have a look at a map of my state sometimes. I'm wayyyyy off in one corner and it's way long to some places they seem to think I'm near. I'm not going to drive 80 miles each way for $9.50 shop fee.

There are other companies out there that also think that every town is right near New York City.

I do know Jerry and he lives on Long Island.
I have actually seen bonused shops with Maritz. The only I first shopped for them, they were struggling to fill their bank platform shops ($15) and they bonused them $15, making them $30 each. I had already accepted one, my first Maritz shop and my first platform bank shop, so that one was unbonused. But I accepted 2 more at $30 each. This was back before the client requirement that you perform only one shop for their bank per day. All 3 were close together and close to home - $75 in less than an hour. Of course, reporting put me over an hour, but not much, it's a simple report. But since then, while I have gotten some begging phone calls, I have not seen any bonused shops.

I have a problem like that with a city sort of around here. There is a city that takes me around an hour to drive to and they must not have any shoppers near there. I am often called by a lot of different MSPs to do a shop there and they always have it listed as being 20 miles from me. That may be if you just measured on an angle through the cornfields, but to drive there it is an hour trip one way.
Of course Mapquest does their part too, the last time I checked they still had my house out in Lake Erie and I do NOT live on a houseboat.

I feel sure that at least a little bit of it is the only semilogic of zip codes. Lets say that my zip code was 44468. There is the assumption that any zip code starting 444-- must be close to me and likely any one that starts 44--- might be a potential candidate. Well, it ain't so. Some of the 444-- stuff is a lot further away than some 45--- stuff. Does this account for all the nonsense? Nope, but it may be a contributing factor.
Somewhat O.T., but I wish all schedulers paid better attention to geography. I'm constantly being spammed with offers for shops 2 or 3 hours away.
I got hit with an insistent scheduler who was bound and determined that Plattsburgh was only 2 hours from me. Try 13 hours each way if I don't stop for any breaks at all. Maybe she forgot to mention that they were going to toss in a round trip airline ticket?

Huge Major Mailing Company shops have moved to BARE according to an email I received yesterday.
Yup, and they start there Oct 1 with still lower fees and get your own materials, it would appear.
It did not say in the email I received, do they reimburse for shipping materials? If I have to buy a box for a DIM weight shop plus air bag packing material, that could cost abit.
