intelli shop

Lisa, well said...some are great, some good, and, er, uh, some "not so good". there have been enough horror stories here about Intelli-shop regarding rejected reports, unclear instructions, and frustrated shoppers -- to make me believe (along with personal experience) that they are, at their core, highly suspect in the ethics department. Now, that can be argued, but it seems like their 'best practices' in regard to their interaction/editing/ communication with shoppers is often sketchy.

Impugning ethics and referring to a company as sketchy is too much. Many of us have successfully completed dozens, even hundreds of shops. Personally, on the few occasions there has been an issue, it has been resolved to my satisfaction. They are far from the ideal company, but they are a legitimate company and it should not be implied they are not.

Yes I wonder about their ethics too. I mean at least email me back or communicate with me some details. To just say it has been rejected and then drop me in terms of communication, well this is suspect. I wonder if they have situations where the client still accepts the report (they have the name just not the description of the person) and Intelli-Shop then gets paid. Just saying.
You made a mistake. Why are you compounding it by such an absurd accusation? The editor did email you and you did not follow through correctly.

I have done many shops for Intelli-Shop over the years. I rarely do shops for them any more. Not because of ethics but because of their editors. They are the worst, most inconsistent of any I MSCs I have worked with. Never though, have I questioned their ethics.

I have gotten paid for every one of my shops with them because I follow their guidelines.
With Intellishop, I think it depends a lot on who handles the issue. I had successfully completed a number of shops for them with my rating 9 or 10. No issues in payment and on one occasion, the 'Acceptance' was received a few hours before the deadline of 3PM that day. The scheduler apologized and rescheduled the shop. However, in my last experience with them, I was unlucky to be dealing with somebody I am not sure I worked with before.

I did not receive their 'Acceptance' of shop until it was overdue by a day. When I emailed them about it, and explained I waited for the acceptance but that I could not do it when it arrived too late, I was given 1/10. When I wrote with my explanation again, the editor told me I had plenty of time to do the shop. I self-deactivated my account. I noticed that someone (out of spite?) Manually deactivated my account. Then I kept receiving some email about existing shops. I advised my regular contact about the status of my account. I did not receive any reply.

I have removed Intellishop from my list. Not a big loss.
Edited for typo.

I'm doing more shops for this MSC lately than any others with no scheduler, editor or payment issues. I did one of these appliance shops in May for $15 and had no problem following the guidelines. Though it was way too little $ for the time spent because I had to wait almost 1/2 hr. just to talk to a sales rep. After that, it was fine because the rep. was adamant about recommending another brand. The rep. did a great job selling and then said they don't get commission. Any salesperson who works that hard just for salary + bonus is crazy or desperate. It never ceases to amaze me how much effort these clients expect from their employees when they're not willing to reward them for their ability to close.
Just a heads up. I just signed up for 5 tire phone shops with Intelli-shop this morning. I've done these in the past and they were pretty simple. Lots of check offs about what was mentioned by the rep to get you to buy and whether they invited you to come in not much narrative. After signing up and confirming, I discovered that these have totally changed. Now it's almost all narrative for the same $5 pay. I didn't do these last month so I don't know if this is new this month or not. I think the report is going to take a lot longer than before although the call will probably be about the same length. I'll see how things go, but I"m not sure the $5 will be enough for me to do more of these in the future.

this is so true. Some schedulers are great, some aren't. That can happen anywhere, but I'm especially cautious with Intelli because they are quick to refuse payment. A scheduler assigned a shop to me that was due the same day, and did not notify me it had been assigned. I found out when I went to their website to cancel the app that it had been assigned. I already finished my shops for the day, so I had to go back out and had about 2 hours before the store closed. Of course, there was a hiccup with the shop, and I wrote the scheduler to see if it was worth my time to submit the report. It's been a month. I still haven't heard back. I'm beginning to think she's not going to respond. I am very careful now about which schedulers I work with for this MSC.

Thanks for the heads up. I saw those, but since I'm mildly disgruntled with Intellishop at the moment I didn't grab any. Glad I didn't this time.
I just got an Acceptance for a shop due today, at 4:15! I emailed the scheduler and told them I could not do it now, I was not in that area. I have not done any shops for this company yet, but I have been requesting them for over a week now. The shops I'm requesting are still on the job board. I think I'm going to pass on this company. I have wasted a lot of time .

Probably the best thing to do at this point. In the future, you can go in to your Requested Shops on the website and delete your applications when it gets too late for you to do them. By leaving the application open, you always risk getting scheduled. I usually delete applications after a day, because if it isn't assigned pretty quickly, it gives me the impression I am not their first choice and they are waiting for something better. And I figure I can usually find better things to do, too.
In my case, I stupidly applied for a shop which was due the next day. It was on board for a while. I did not receive the Acceptance until it was a day overdue. There was no time to delete my application. I just discovered I received for the first time 1/10 despite my emails to the scheduler. And then suddenly there was someone else handling the email exchange. She said I had plenty of time to do the shop.
From one of their "mystery shop application" pages. Tell me this is not confusing; Shop Details
Shop Type:Onsite Sales shop
Day & Times: Mon-Saturday only. Saturday shops must be started by 1pm. NO WEEKENDS.
LOL
By the way this is a car shop and there is another one available at the same location for the same pay different type of vehicle. This one doesn't seem to require any kind of pre-visit contact. The other one requires an on-line contact which is a pain because of screen shots. I did one once where I forgot the screen shots. I contacted the scheduler immediately to ask if I should continue anyway as it was due the next day. Didn't hear from the scheduler so just in case I went ahead and did the shop and eval form with everything but the screenshots. They rejected the shop. I understood because of not getting everything required, but it still would have been nice to hear from the scheduler so I didn't waste my time. I learned a big lesson that time. I've noticed that prior to this the no prior contact shops paid $17.00 while the one that required a pre-visit contact paid at least $20 (before bonus). This time around they're both paying $17. Not doing it without more pay guaranteed.

There's a confusing guideline for the on-line lead required one too. In one part of the information it says the lead has to be sent at least 3 hours prior to going to the dealership. Farther down it says it has to be sent the day before at least 24 hours prior. This is a change from previous information given for the shop. Somebody needs to do some serious proof-reading on these pages.
