I found this MSC yesterday. They use Prophet, [apply.shopservation.com]

but when I go to their actual site, the above address minus "apply." I get a warning that there could be malware on the site. I went ahead and visited because I've got good computer protection and found the site to look lower-budget.

Not sure if it's my spy/adware being anal or if it's serious. Is it safe to apply with a company if they use Prophet, Sassie, or Shopmetrics? I hadn't really thought twice before now because I figured they had to pay a fee to use the service. And does anyone know anything about this company? I got it off of Volition's list.

They have a PO Box, phone, fax, and email easily accessible on their page. There is no BBB record of them. If nobody knows anything, I may try to contact them.

I am not familiar with this firm, but just went and checked their web site. The web site is "low end" enough (and broken on the client demo page) that I sense this is a VERY small firm. In general, if they use one of the four MS sw systems, I feel somewhat safe. But always cautious. The who is gives this data:

TUCOWS has been around for years. Back in the mid 1990s they offered shareware (not pirated stuff) and software that encouraged you to send a donation to the developer if you used the stuff. My guess is that it is a cheap way to get a domain (just as GoDaddy is or was). My guess is that there is legitimacy to the firm if they are using Prophet and perhaps the amateur hour with their own website (like we don't see enough of that already with companies!).
