The timing of this announcement is interesting for me. I recently signed up with the company and found the fish restaurant. SCORE!! Then I read the description of the job and payment and I hesitated, as the gift card payment seemed like a step backward from all my other work. I let the idea sit overnight and took another look when I got home from work the next day. Under the "try most anything once" doctrine, I signed up and was promptly confirmed.
I honestly can't remember what prompted me, but the following day I did more research, mostly on the forum. I saw references to 'special' cards that are not true gift cards, but are comp cards given to disgruntled customers (and mystery shoppers.) That left me feeling a bit more uneasy, so when I dug into the questionnaire itself, the large number of questions pushed me over the edge. For only the second time in four years of shopping, I asked to be removed from a shop after getting access to the questionnaire. In my email, I explained my reasoning and they took the shop off my log.
I am certainly not knocking anyone that does these shops for the chance to go back and eat there again later on someone else's dime. This mostly feels like a Twilight Zone moment (younger shoppers, ask your parents) with the timing of my cancellation and then THEIR cancellation.
I toyed with the idea of posting the quote from their website, just to see if Lisa is still reading the thread. However, reason prevailed. "Discretion is the better part of valor." Lisa, put...the...gun...down....
