Insula Research - Price Audits

I did some work for Insula last week that was highly bonused & well worth it. The audits involved several different fast food restaurants and included required photos. All was well...until one of my reports came back saying that I attached the incorrect pictures to the report. ALL 4 OF THE PICTURES. Baloney!

I make plenty of mistakes and own up to them when I do, but I KNOW that I did not upload the wrong photos. I have a specific way of naming them so that I don't make that mistake. Plus, to have uploaded all 4 incorrectly on the same report? NO. Interestingly, the 4 "incorrect" photos they sent back to me were the EXACT photos I submitted for a different restaurant.

I totally suspect that the editor made an error. The exact same thing happened to me with this company last year, and I just corrected it & forgot it. Not this time! Does anyone know, first of all, how this could happen? And, has anyone else had this experience? Is dinging me a dollar for an incorrect report worth THAT much to an editor, to make them "frame" me with wrong photos?

In moments of senility I suspect I have attached the wrong photos or receipts to reports, but they have never come back to bite me.

Indeed I too have my method for getting the right photos with the right shop when I have done multiple same shops--I put them in separate folders and try to double check that I am pulling from the correct folder. Of course the problem with my approach is that if one photo is wrong, they will all be wrong.

I have not worked for Insula but they do use the Prophet system if I recall correctly and I have seen stranger things than that happen with Prophet. In either case a dollar ding whether it is your goof or Prophet's or the editor's smarts on a job that doesn't pay that much to start with, but for future harmony I would eat the penalty, get them the correct photos and move on. Once a year is not outrageous for a buck 'discount' and since the 'discount' was on a well bonused shop, it could be worse.

Very true, a dollar ding isn't a big deal on a highly bonused shop. We gotta keep these things in perspective smiling smiley

Am I just paranoid to think that maybe the person who DEDUCTED the dollar gets to KEEP the dollar? That would certainly be incentive to find reasons - valid or not - for declaring a report to have mistakes in it.

I'm also a horrible perfectionist, so it irritates me to be told I did something that I know I didn't do.

As I say, it was just WEIRD that the exact same thing happened to me on a previous occasion, with the same company. I guess I have a dark and suspicious mind...who is profiting from this?! lol

I very much doubt the editor gets the dollar. Really.

You might be right. But then why do they deduct a dollar for a report that is not "clean"? It gets taken even if you fix it in 5 minutes, so it can't be a question of making the report late in getting to the client.

Because it costs the extra $ to have it read again by an editor.

And the editor is working on a per job basis more than likely and wants/needs to encourage you to get it right the first time to make their job easier. When they have to re-read or re-edit, with the companies I know about there is no extra pay for that or for contacting you to fix it. Even if it is a 5 minute fix, the editor still has to keep track of pushing to get it fixed so it can move on to the client in a timely fashion.

Anyone know about how long it takes to get scheduled for one of those?

They have one in my small tiny town (that rarely happens) so I jumped all over it. When I clicked to assign, I got a message that said to email them with the location to request to be assigned it.

That was four days ago. I emailed again yesterday just in case they did not get the first one. I got a reply that just said this assignment is self assign, go to the site and assign it.

So I go to the site and try again, still get the same message. I replied to the email I got back saying I tried to self assign and I copied the message I get.

Still have not heard back and the job is still on the board.

I haven't experienced any trouble specifically like that, but I have noticed that sometimes there is a lag time with them getting things onto the website.

There isn't a telephone number listed on the website either, so I guess you will just have to play the waiting game...

I have had this happen with a phone audit. It was a month before they contacted me. Go figure.
