I like Gapbuster a lot. Simple reports and good pay. One thing they need to fix is allow "DC" to be searched. It's not listed on the drop down so it takes me 10x as long to find shops for DC.
I have problem in accessing the gapbuster at home, I can open any other webside but this webside. I managed to open it from other computers so it seems the problem is on my computer or connection at home as it is not accepting the (xec). If there is anyone who has been in such problem and managed to sort it out, please contact me via the email layalybaghdad@hotmail.com

I appreciate it so much
They are very nice people, and you can retake a test if you wait long enough. Not very good at answering their mail.

And is it me, or is their website VERY difficult to navigate?

There is a trick to those tests, sportsfans. And I don't mean just Gapbusters.

They are often poorly written, with double negatives and open to interpretation answers. Novices should carefully study the material, or you will never pass.

More experienced shoppers will start seeing the same questions over and over. I take the test cold, then print out the wrong answers (one question was picking out a shirt with a button down collar...... a nightmare!) and take them one step at a time, with the test on the screen. I run about 80% cold; if you find yourself in that realm, this will work for you. Some companies let you retake and retake; those you can experiment with. The ones that limit trials mean you MUST print the thing out, and research. You cannot mess with them. And the truth is, even searching for two answers, you learn the material very well.

Have you noticed? The longer the test, the less the pay (I am seeing images of Golden Arches.....I did pass though, I was determined. lol)

What I like, is their "clever" attempt (as with some other companies) to disguise their FF shop as a $10 shop even though you have to do BOTH a drive-thru AND a dine-in evaluation with separate specific timings, separate designated purchase requirements and separate, distinct report sections.

Sounds like two shops at $5 each to me...no thanks!

Another MSC currently is passing off a combined dine-in/drive-thru FF shop as a $7 shop! To me, it's two $3.50 shops!! If I won't do it for $5 each, I SURE won't do it for $3.50 each! I hope it sits there forever...but some "schmuck" will no doubt take it and do their part to keep the fees down for ALL of us!
I have worked for GAPbusters for 1 month now, completing 10 assignments, working in Australia. My only warning to others who would like to complete assignments for this company would be to make sure you follow instructions carefully, as you wont get paid for invalid assignments. I woud suggest not taking the Fast Food assignments as there is way too much information to record and so little pay. These assignments are easy to stuff up and you have just wasted your time, effort and bought junk you normally would not eat. It would also be nice to speak with a CSR on the phone who you can understand. I find there are always a healthy stream of assignments up for grabs daily. Not the highest paying jobs though, but not the hardest reports to submit either. Good for people just starting out.
This is my currently favorite company to work for. I regularly do 5-6 shops a month for them, and am often called upon to do more (with bonus $). They pay on time and, at least in my neighborhood, have VERY easy shops to complete.
Gapbuster used to have a couple of other companies, but apparently lost them. They currently are only showing the one company. I have been working with Gapbuster for the last two years and have never had a problem with them. They pay promptly twice a month and if they need shops done, they are not afraid to pay good bonuses for the shops. I do about six shops a month for them and they constantly call me for help on bonus shops. My only gripe with gapbuster is the difficulty in finding shops. It would be so much easier with an area search instead of having to put in specific cities.
That is not true. They have one company out of my area, and another company with locations in 3 states, one of which is my area.

I have done work for them for them a few years, They pay well and cover expenses most other companies won't. I was always paid on time. They respond fast to inquires and are lenient in rescheduling shops. They don't have much work where I am, but they are a good company.
Gapbuster is a reliable company. They always pay on time, they always contact you if there are something that needs to be clarified and they pay an aceptable amount for assigments. However I wish they would change their web site as it isn't the best site in the world, and I wish they would pay traveling fees by the milage instead of a spesifc amount that has to be negotiaded with them. That would make it SO much easier for the shoppers to accept assigments right there and then.

BTW how much do you get as a bonus for an assigment one hour away? I am thrilled to see if they pay more or less here in Norway than other countries.

TO THOSE OF YOU THINKING YOU'RE GONNA BE RICH DOING THIS; No you won't. Not if you don't mystery shop your ass off.

I'm not in this to make an extreme amount of money. I know this alone can't pay my bills, but I thinks its fun and it has opend my eyes so much every time I am in a store on the job or off the job. I see my eyes always looking for filt, garbage, how long it takes a salesperson to contact you, if the clothes on the hangar are straight etc. And the most fun is when you enter a shop you have mystery shopped previously and find that they acctually have done something with the things you have commented in your report.
A little advice: Always save your reports when doing Gapbuster-jobs. They call you up frequently to check details!

That is part of the 'art' of mystery shopping. An hour from me in one direction is a 60 mile drive on excellent roads with little traffic and through miles of tidy, productive farmland. An hour from me in another direction is a 36 mile drive, the last 10 miles being stop and go traffic jams. Mileage alone does not determine how much a bonus needs to be. Timing becomes important--when does the job need to be done by and is there a particular time of day it must be done? I will not even consider an 7AM job an hour away.

I know what areas around me have few if any shoppers. If I am offered a shop with a nice bonus that I have 3-5 days to do, the chances are good in some areas that I will be able to find additional work to make the trip worthwhile without a substantial bonus. But a bonused shop that must be done today does not give me that option. Nor does a bonused shop in an area that is pretty much shoppered to death. I had an emergency shop yesterday about 40 minutes away that was done on such short notice there was not time enough to line up other work. I did it for an additional $20 only because I am trying to make a friend of the scheduler. Will I do it every month for only $20 more? Maybe, if we schedule it before it becomes an emergency so that I can pick up additional work.

Seriously? It's happened to me only once in years of shopping for them.

karen
It never happened to me with them. Everything just went through smoothly, and I always got paid on time. I wish they had more than one client here. I used to love their gas shops - they were super fast and easy (they still are with the new company, though) but they were always calling me with a bonus! Loved their accents, too. :-)

I haven't worked for them in years, but I recall them being very generous with bonuses when they called. I think it had something to do with the Aussie dollar being rather strong at the time.

When I would decline a shop due to distance, they would ask, "What would make it worth your while?"

I wish all MSCs had attitudes and accents like that!

Now if they could just increase the client base a bit.....
EEEK!

It looks as if GapBuster lost their only shop in my market to another company who is paying $2.50 less for the same shop. Woe is me! No more great Australian accents! No more fat bonuses for my favorite breakfast shops. sad smiley
If you're looking for their lost business - In my neighborhood they were snatched up by MF.
Yea, unfortunately yet another good company losing their contract to an cheap one. Bummers.

I don't know if they were necessarily "snatched up" by MF. In my area, MF always shopped some of those FF's. MF shopped the ones to the east of me and GAP did the ones to the west.

Same here in my area.
I wonder if Lisa and Fitey are neighbors? :-)

I should have written, "Gapbuster's single client in my area is currently being serviced by MF."

I didn't mean 'snatched up' to have any connotation.

I live in California in the Central Valley, but I don't know about Lisa.

P.S. I have gotten a few PM's asking what my name means so here goes. Years ago when my hubby and I were getting internet service he asked what I wanted my screen name to be. I said I didn't care so he named me FiteyBitey. He picked it because he is a HUGE Frank Zappa fan and that was the name of their cat. (Oh, at the time I was fostering 10 kitties)
