Generally I have rarely seen bonuses. The one bonus I got from them was offered as a separate email solicitation and did not appear on their site or on my job once taken. Not surprisingly, it was not paid either. When I sent the email back to the scheduler inquiring about the bonus I was told they were "never paid together". Within hours the bonus was sent via Paypal so I have no knowledge whether it was sent in response to my catching the shortage or was indeed the case that they are handled separately.

JC has drastically extended their payment time. I am still owed $5 for a job I accepted at $35 that the following round of jobs were offered at $30 but my job only got paid $30. They have never responded to my inquiry so I have written it and them off.
I have them listed in my "if I'm really bored" file.

I did two jobs for them, then waited a really long time to get paid. I sent a couple of emails, but got no answer.

I had finally given up, when i got a check for the second job. I shrugged and cashed it, then a week later, I got paid for the first job, and the second job again.

I sent them an email asking them how I should return the extra money.

No answer.
I would need to be really really bored plus going to the restaurant anyway myself so I had little or no expectation of being paid for the report.
I just got an email from these guys titled "FAST PAY Mystery Shops Available!" giving specific instructions on how to get your shop put to the top for payment in 14 days.

1) Knowing a shopper with a 7 day promised pay that is well overdue, I don't believe it.
2) Knowing I got shortchanged $5 on my last shop and they never responded to my inquiry with documentation of the shortage.

I am certainly not going to even go to the website to take a look.

Beyond that there is the philosophical problem with offering shoppers fast pay for stepping up for late in the month shops while shoppers who voluntarily assisted you during the rest of the month linger and linger and linger in getting paid.

While I recognize that companies must 'do something' to get shops completed, that 'something' is generally recognized to be additional pay. And if your company has already disgraced itself with slow payment and stretching out pay cycles (is it really up to 6 months now?), you have already made yourself an 'unreliable company to work with'.
I am one with a 7 day way overdue. I got the email a few minutes ago. I deleted this time. :-)

Also, at another forum, I read about a shopper who was asked to enter her own shops under the scheduler's account (not the scheduler's Sassie site (I don't think that scheduler uses Sassie, but the scheduler's email.) Perhaps something got lost in the translation, but to me, this seemed like like one additional way to ensure you might not get paid...there would be no record under your own name in the workroom.

This is one of the worst companies I have worked for also. Very slow pay and very rude communication when inquired where pay was.
And it is a toss up which is worse--having inquiries ignored or being rude. Neither one makes an interesting company to work with. And unfortunately they are far from the only company with communication "issues" on a normal and routine basis.
True.

I have worked for Jason for 4 years, and he only had the one restaurant here in L.A., that I love. They lost that temporarily (I'm told), but it's coming back. They now have one other, that I'm doing today. They got behind due to some problems, but I think they will come back....I hope so. I also waited 5 months to get paid for a job, but am caught up now.

I personally do not think waiting 5 months, when it is not the contract I agreed to (7 days and still not paid 5 months later in this case for this MSC) is okay enough to continue to shop for the MSC in question. An MSC that violates their end of a contract is the same as a shopper who flakes on an assignment. Neither is viewed as a good thing to do, and neither is viewed as the right thing to do.

That said, if it is money you would spend at the place otherwise, oh what the heck, take your chance you might get paid in a semblance of some manner acceptable to someone (usually the MSC.) If it is strictly for the job, then run the other way from those MSC's that are not paying per their contract with you. Contracts run both ways. We are always reprimanded if something happens and we don't meet our end (the recent post of a heart attack victim who was on the job while having the heart attack being a most blatant example of the lack of consideration of some companies...)

I personally will never understand why some shoppers will allow companies to treat them this way.

If you were 3 months late with your report, would you expect to get paid? I think not. Why allow these companies to play you, for that is what they are doing. Yes, some of them are just trying to hang on in a bad economy. But aren't you? Aren't we all?

Dee, I agree, but my shop with JC was a restaurant that I love doing, and have eaten at years before becoming a shopper....I could live with that, and try and understand in this economy, things happen. I still like the company.

I also got the email about being paid in 14 days....they are shops in strange area's, not for me....don't think he'll ever get them done, even paying the next day. Wish I really knew what's going on there. I received an email from a scheduler that told me to sign with her Co., for Jasons jobs, as she gets a kickback. Would that be considered her stabbing him in the back.

Live consciously....
He has an independent scheduler doing work for him these days. I have heard some strange tales with that. But I do not have any idea of how most of his shops really get scheduled these days. I have only worked for him twice, and once still unpaid, and the other took over 90 days to pay. I just won't go there, regardless of who is doing the scheduling. I expect to be paid per contract when I do the work and the report is accepted.

I would not shop for either the scheduler or the company again. My pay is already late by a month (they did not pay by the date that they stated they would in the paper work). Their website has now changed the dates of pay (for shops already completed) and JC& Associates has not responded to a polite email asking about my pay.
