anyone hear about MSPA and if so how are they im new to this and would like to get started. i also went through jobslinger

The MSPA is the trade organization of the companies that put out shops that shoppers perform. The MSPA is NOT an organization of shoppers but rather of those who hire shoppers. They do sell certifications which some shoppers in some markets saturated with shoppers feel may give them an edge in being assigned work. The jury is really out on that one.

I have to say, the certification works, at least for me. I went for the silver, would NEVER pay so much for the "gold". I feel my writing ability sample is enough to get me "in", and the silver cert (which was inexpensive) gives me a little edge over others.

You are correct though. I am in NJ, which being the most densly populated state is also true for the amount of available shoppers.
