WHAT MS COMPANY AUDITS CHURCHES??

I was just reading on the volition.com mystery shopping forum that there is supposedly a company out there that pays very well to mystery shop churches and they also pay quickly. Of course, no one on that site actually posts what company it is so that others can sign up. Since a church is considered a general place and we are not mentioned EXACT names of certain churches, it is alright to post which company (I believe there is only one) that shops churches. Please post here if you know what company this is. Many of us are struggling in this economy and this is probably the perfect time to expand shopping to the not so obvious places and be able to worship (for religious people like myself) at the same time while making some extra money. Thanks for any info you may have.

Its not a bad idea, but it disheartens me a little that while church and state are recognized as separate (in theory), church and business are not. Maybe I come from old school churches that are created and maintained by the congregation they keep, so I am confused on what you would shop...pastor penalized for putting people to sleep during the sermon, or Aunt Martha chastized for singing off key in the choir?

What you are shopping is the hospitality and friendliness of welcome offered to a visitor. There have been a lot of bad jokes about these shops from a whole lot of folks because they are absurd. However I can tell you that indeed I stopped my churchgoing when it became a cliquish social function/fashion show rather than a meaningful moral/ethical/spiritual experience once a week.

I shopped a couple churches then it was made clear that these were going to be unpaid shops. While there I evaluated the friendliness and welcoming atmosphere, handicapped access and restroom access if any. The two I went to were completely unfriendly and as visitors we were not greeted in any way until the service was over and we were about 10 feet from the exit door. The only indication to the powers that be that we were there at all was a small business card you were to leave in the collection plate. I slipped it into a donation envelope and sent it on its way.

Thanks a lot. One thing I can say is that they have a very nice website. I signed up for the heck of it even though Arch mentioned they don't shop the NorthEast.

I live in a corner of New York state and there are churches that most certainly DO get shopped.

I can agree that there are some churches that could really use a reality check...

All joking aside, who do the results go to? That's what is curious to me....
Are there parent companies out there that are in the business of church chains? Am I the only one that it seems odd to?

I believe that it is local churches that contract for the services so as to 'see themselves from the outside'. Obviously those who are in the congregation already find the church comfortable but all churches seem to have as their goal to bring in the rest of us heathen, build new buildings, have bigger choirs and offer a more extensive program.
