Bestmark

I am unhappy them. Every time I send in report and receipt it say was successful. Then three days later says receipt not submitted and the shop was cancelled.

I have not had any problem with them. I have done 4 jobs and I get paid about a week after the job. I have been working with Carol and she is very nice. I am sorry you are having problems.
Paid after a week?? I would like to learn more about Bestmark. Is anyone is SWFlorida familiar with them?
Also, after doing MS for 3 months, I am still only making $5 to $6 an hour considering shop time, going between shops, and inputting reports. Is this usual or am I just too slow?
Thanks for any input.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble with BestMark.
I have completed 2 shops with them and have a few more lined up.

They pay twice monthly so you can get a check quite quickly after completing a shop.

I got a report ater 1 shop saying there were some spelling/grammar/punctuation errors in my report. I found this strange as I always type my narratives in Word and check them before submitting. But I'm not going to get too upset about it.

They have very detailed instructions and some penalties if the shop is not completed accordingly.
But as with all mystery shopping companies, if you’re not happy with them you are not obliged to take any more assignments with them.
I have never had problems with assignments or getting paid. In my opinion, their quick pay does not compensate for their reporting system. I believe they have one of the hardest reports to do. I seldom do shops for them for that reason. All their receipts have to be faxed and that is also a hassle because I do not have a fax machine.

igogirl,
I do not look at my pay by the hour. I look at how much extra money I earn in a month. Some companies have easy jobs with easy reports and the hourly greatly increases, other shops have a lot of reading, printing and reporting which will greatly reduce an hourly wage. Once I have completed a shop several times it becomes easier and quicker to do so. This business is very time consuming in the beginning. Good Luck!

Making the world a better place to shop, one assignment at a time!
Bonnie,

Some banks will do free faxes for customers. When our fax machine was broken, I started taking things to the bank. The clerks occasionally asked questions about what I do. Finally, I told one of them that she'd figure it out if she looked at the names of some of the companies that send direct deposit. They quit asking. The fax machine is working now anyway.
I like working with Bestmark the reports are not difficult compared to other companies I work with and they pay quickly. The only thing confusing about them to me is who is the scheduler this week. They seem to have a huge turn around lately.
I did a casino for them about 3 weeks ago it paid 75.00 but I had to complete a 36 page report. I wont be do that again. It took me 4 hours to do the shop and almost 2 to enter it on line.
I'm doing my first Bestmark shop tomorrow and I must admit I'm quite nervous. I got a ton of paperwork to read and sort through. The report seems rather lengthy and they want much detail and narrative. I'm not sure it's worth it, but with any new company the reports and info can seem quite overwhelming. Once you do it, the next one is much easier. I wasn't happy to read all the info regarding them making deductions from your pay if they need to contact you for a clarification or more information. They say they will deduct $2.00 for this and $2.00 for that as well as other amounts for other things. I hope I'm left with something when all is said and done!!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I completed my first Bestmark assignment today and will probably never do another one. It was at an electronics store. I spent almost one hour in the store and it took me two hours to complete the report. All that for $10 plus my gas. I have been mystery shopping for about 18 months, so it's not like I'm new and a beginner. I don't think I would or could ever get faster at doing those forms. There were too many questions and way too many detailed narratives.
I did my first Bestmark shop a few days ago. Their website lists the check as being processed. I did not think that the questionnaire was exceptionally long or that the narrative expected was unnecessary. The questions were all reasonable. I enjoyed the shop. I had trouble making my personal copy of the finished online form. I had to copy each page separately from the screen rather than the whole form at one time.
Prior to doing this assignment, I almost accepted a restaurant job which I was kind of excited about. It was a nice chain restaurant which paid $27 reimbursement for two people. This is much better than $9 or $10, but I'm not sure it would still be worth it. I'm sure the report is just as bad if not worse. I enjoy mystery shopping but I find it very stressful when I'm up until midnight trying to enter a report. It makes it all the harder to do when you realize what you're getting paid. I am probably actually in the hole on this assignment when you take into consideration all the paperwork I printed, my time, and gas. I also had to make a small purchase. It's quite frustrating, but I guess we win some and lose some!
I have done a couple of shops for Bestmark but I quite them I usually have to drive 60 miles to get to the location and then all they did was reimburse me. There was no shop fee. It did not make sense to me to do any more just for a free meal. If it was a place that I wanted to go anyway it would be fine but not to drive that far and not even get paid over the top of my food cost.
I performed casino shops for Bestmark and put out a lot of money up front. They took deductions for the simplest error. In one case I was not reimbursed for the shop which cost me well over 300.00 of my own money. They did not pay me the shop fee for 6 hours of work. I was out a total of 375.00 when all was said and done. They do no appreciate hard workers. Beware!!!
I've never had a problem with Bestmark. They were the first company I contracted with. They pay on time and the work for me is steady. I also like them because I do a lot of compliance shops which my daughter loves doing. They are 1 of my main companies I shop for.
I haven't done anything with Bestmark yet, but I will keep everyone's experiences in mind. One point I thought should be made yet, on June 14, bestfr1303 had a problem with working 6 hours on a shop that paid $75.00. That is still $12.50 an hour and nothing to sneeze at, that would pay better than most mystery shops.

As for the problem of taking shops that only reimburse, it only seems logical not to take those shops unless you really want to eat at that restaurant for free. I would never sign up for a reimbursement shop if I didn't care to eat there in the first place, or would not make sense when considering the travel time/gas costs. I do take the restaurant shops that allow me to bring a friend, that way we get a free meal and I can visit with my friend at the same timel. I work so many hours between Mystery Shopping and my full time job, plus my part time job, that I tend to neglect my friends otherwise. They are always happy to get a free meal as well.
Janet,

You are right I did have a problem with it. I was expressing my opinion. My point being in the 6 hours for Bestmark, I have done shops for shopnchek in 2 hours and made 55.00 and I also do banks for a company, can do 4 of their shops in 3 hours at 20.00 a shop. So lets add this up 80.00 + 55.00 that is 135.00 in 5 hours then if I want to I can pick up a couple of more shops in the the other 3 hours. I do this every saturday and sunday, I average about 1100 a month.
I did one shop for them at an electronics store. The report took me over an hour to complete. I will not take assignments from them because, like other shoppers mentioned, it's not worth it. The report was very detailed and long.
I agree. I did one electronics shop for them and will never do another unless the pay is really increased. I did accept a to-go shop for a restaurant and it was very easy. To me it was worth the $27 reimbursement. My husband and I had a good and plentiful dinner. The form was easy and not very detailed. The shop only required a phone call and then the pick-up. I never did the dine-in shop, but I feel that would require a lot more details and narrative just like the electronics shops. Bestmark does pay promptly.
I just had the worst experience with Bestmark. My father-in-law died in July. I had to cancel a coffee shop I had scheduled with them due to the death (this was the first job I ever cancelled in over 3 years of working with them). When I realized two months later that I was no longer receiving job notifications from them, I emailed the scheduler to ask why.

Her reply to me was that she took me out of the shopper database because I cancelled that one shop and because I hadn't completed a shop for them for 4 months. I responded back to her that I cancelled the shop due to my father-in-law's death. She replied back again to me that she needed shoppers willing to shop EVERY MONTH! She still would not reactivate my shopper status. I was appalled!

Unsatisfied, I contacted the scheduler's supervisor. He agreed immediately to reinstate my active status and said he would "have a talk" with the scheduler. I am now back in the database.
I am really surprised that Bestmark can even get any shoppers. They better try and keep what they have. I know alot of shoppers that will not shop with them, because of the low pay and lengthy reports. I wouldnt care if I was their data base or not. I have cancelled 4 shops with them and they still send me emails.
I have not had a negative experience with Bestmark. They do not have many shops in my area and I don't sign up for their shops too often. I personally don't like to go back to the same location again and again. I feel that I will reveal myself as a mystery shopper if I keep going back to the same location, talk up the asociates, and never purchase anything of substance.

I did a shop for them recently after not having performed a shop for them in months. I forgot how complicated their guidelines and form are (too much time and detail for the amount of money that is paid. By the time I finished the report, I had a headache. Maybe that is why I don't shop for them on a regular basis.
I find their reports long and confusing especially for the pay. Definitely not worth it. I wont do shops for them again unless I'm really desperate. I did an Electronics shop for them which took me over an hour to do it and then over an hour to enter it and it only paid $10.
I do quite a few shops for Bestmark and have few complaints. The reports are long but the pay is usually good and fast. I always try to schedule myself several shops in the same area the same day so I get a better profit.

I've done one shop with them and did not have any problems. I received my check two weeks after completion.
Hi All,

I do 1 or 2 shops a month for Best Mark, usually the casinos or a nice restaurant. The casinos pay well for about 3 hours work including entering the report. I have done an electronics shop for them and spent 1 hour at the store and then another hour entering the report. The electronic report is just as detailed as the casino and takes almost as long to enter. Needless to say I don't take the electronics shops anymore.

I used Bestmark when I first started and have since quit applying for their jobs. The reports and shops are time consuming and the pay is very low. Plus they often reduced the quoted amounts do to gramatical errors.
