Report question

I am working on a report and feel terrified because I have come across a question that is very specific and detailed that was not listed in the instructions or the list of questions I printed out. I went back and re-read the instructions on-line and this question is not there - only in the actual report. The bad part is that it is a very specific question and unless I went back to the store, I could never answer it.
Has anyone ever had this happen and do you think it would invalidate my report ? The instructions they gave me were very detailed and specific for each step - I'm shocked this was missing.

This has definitely happened to me. The issue is, if the instructions told you to go over the report AND the instructions before doing the shop (which most of them do), then it was your responsiblity to get the answer for the question. Unfortunately, the MS could invalidate your report.

When I made the mistake, I was lucky to have understanding schedulers. I contacted the scheduler and told them I overlooked the question (or forgot to take the photo) and needed to return to the store. In each case the scheduler either gave me an extension or told me not to worry about it.

I've found it best to be humble and honest.

Sincerely,

Yes, it's happened to many of us, probably, especially before becoming more of a seasoned shopper. Guidelines/instructions will never take the place of reviewing the actual shop form, both are really necessary. But even then, I'm sure we've all missed something! I can think of several times when I've had to run back to a location to check something. Assuming that this is observation, and not interaction related, can you return to the location before the survey deadline?
Thank you all. I will email the scheduler and let them know I can return to the store tomorrow if they don't think that's too late. The questions were included in the instructions. The whole packet was 40+ pages long. I printed the whole thing, because like I said, it was very specific. This question was the only one not in the directions.

The directions say go here and ask a, b,c & d and they are different from each section with many sections to do. It never said go to x and describe it in detail. The instructions say follow these instructions - nowhere does it say make sure you read the report (presumably because the report minus the one question is attached).

I guess in the future when I do a new shop, I should review the report, even if it's supposedly included in the instructions. sigh
The scheduler contacted me and said it was fine if I go back to the store today. They did not address the missing question in the instructions or list of questions, though. Oh, well, I just am glad they worked with me on this issue.
You still have to make 2 trips due to an omission on their part. The least they should of done was thank you for pointing out THEIR errorwinking smiley

Does that ever happen ? They still won't admit it's missing ! lol
Always read the actual survey before doing the shop. Most instructions do not address every question that will be asked on the survey.

Some companies won't let you look at the actual survey though until you are ready to enter it.
Just this week I had a case of recertification on a shop with one company. Through the training and test I could see absolutely no difference. It wasn't until I went through the survey with a fine tooth comb, (seriously, it was that difficult to see) that I found 2 additional questions. I went back to the training and test to see if I could find anything at all since they are about the silliest things I've ever been told to ask someone.
