60 days until payment

Ok, I want to know how you guys feel about companies that take 60 days to pay/reimburse you. When I do a shop that requires me purchasing something I use a credit card that I set aside specifically for MS'ing. But of course the bill is due 30 days later. So I have to pay the bill before I get my reimbursement. Am I right in being a little peeved about this?

smiling smiley if you have an issue with a 60 day reimbursement, then simply don't shop with that company. not unless you have a 0% interest rate on your credit card perhaps.
I try to only do the 60 day deals if they are financial institutions and I will not be tying up or risking any of my own funds.

That actually makes sense too. Good idea, thanks.

If their stated payment guidelines are that they pay in 60 days, IMHO you are not right to be peeved because they stated their payment terms up front. If they state that they pay in 15 days, 30 days or 45 days and then they take 60 days, IMHO you are right to be peeved. Regardless of the time frame a company takes to pay, I am OK with it as long as they correctly state what their payment time is. If I read their payment guidelines and I think it takes too long to get paid, I don't shop for them.

Exactly! If it takes longer than what they stated, then there won't be a second time. Many MCs do say payment is 60 days or longer and if I like the shop, I would do it. But if there is a significant cash outlay, I stay away from them as in a few cases, it took longer than 60 days. If it is a US MCs, I am weary because no matter what the exchange rate, I know I will always lose in reimbursement alone.
As you do more and more shopping you will get the income coming in on a regular basis and the schedule will work itself out.

I don't think you are wrong for being annoyed by this at all. 60 days is a long time. Because I don't think that's reasonable, I just don't work for companies that have that pay cycle. Easy fix. smiling smiley
I personally don't mind the 60 days.

It was rough at first, but after my DH and I built up our Shopper Bank Account (New members - someone gave me EXCELLENT advice, get a checking account JUST for shopping and tie that one directly to your Paypal account, don't co-mingle your "normal" checking with your "shopper" checking.).

Now, I automatically assign my shopper income 60 days ahead. IE: All of my January shops I "assume" will be paid in March; February in April; March in May, etc...

I agree with AustinMom about not being peeved if the MSC pays within their posted payment guidelines. I am on Day 85 with one of my Goodwin and Associates shops from January 3rd. Their guidelines say that they pay by PayPal within 60-90 days so I will have to wait 5 more days before my official whining begins! ;-)

I also agree with r@inyDayZ3 about opening up a second checking account strictly for MS'ing. I did that before I even performed my first shop. As I am now working on my taxes, it is making my life easier but since I am a mathetically-challenged individual, I am still struggling. :-(

RHG says 90 days. There is no reason any company should take 60 days, never mind 90 days!

I agree. Before you accept a job make sure you're willing to wait that long for a payday. To me, 60 days is too long. I won't accept anymore like that.
I'm not crazy about having to wait 60 days to be paid, but one thing is for sure:
I'm not taking any more shops where a layout of MY money is involved at all.
So if they want to take 60 days, I'll think it over and the difficulty of the shop, but I sure wont put my own money down anymore to support some MSC.
