I've done 212 shops for BARE and I still can't self-assign. But I have a good relationship with the scheduler and I get a lot of bonuses for doing routes a long ways from home. I am often asking for bonuses on shops so not having self-assign privileges is kind of nice. I just check the job board and then ask my scheduler if he has some jobs that are not on the schedule that he needs filling in those areas and find out what type of bonuses he is willing to offer to get those done.
I recently did some of the purchase/return electronics shops for them at a local discount department store. I returned all of the items except a flat screen TV because I have been looking for an excuse to buy my first one and this shop gave me that excuse. All of these were bonused shops because they were last minute before a March 31st deadline.
As to the pay issue, the only problems I have with BARE is when I close a bank account and open a new one it takes one or two pay periods before the new bank is accepted and they dock you $2-$3 when they have to send you a paper check vs DD.
