The infamous "hero citation"...wasn't expecting this!

Received an email from a scheduler full of the usual pile of hooey...."need to get this done ASAP", etc.

The offer was for one of the legendary "hero citations", and nothing more. Well, as we all know, imaginary awards don't pay the bills. It was for a shop I know well, at a location that is just down the street from my main job, so I figure it's worth a chance for some negotiation.

I sent the scheduler an offer stating I'd forgo the hero citation in exchange for the bonus amount I received for the same location a few months ago.

Within 3 minutes, I received a response stating "Done! Thanks!", and a shop assignment notification with the bonused amount. You could knock me over with a feather.

Lesson: Sometimes it pays to send that shot-in-the-dark email.

Great, who knew....I only do the hero citation one at the mall when I'm shopping for myself and get a free lunch.

No Lisa...the snarky scheduler from Summit Scheduling deactivated me for asking bonus on those PITA $7 p stores where you wait 2x ask help 2x, evaluate cashier, and bathroom.....

Wow! That sounds like something Certified would do.

I was getting a lot of e-mails for those jobs. Makes me wonder if they were getting lots of requests for bonus because I had never received so many before. Even if they were, it wasn't necessary to take it out on you. There usually a good reason when shoppers are asking for a bonus.

I received one of these today with a $2 bonus for a shop that needed to be done by Friday evening.

Wow.

Word.
I had someone ask me via PM "Why didn't you ask for the hero citation plus the bonus money?"

Valid question. Although it probably falls on deaf ears attached to a lead-lined skull, it was my subtle way of sending a message. And that message was, to borrow a phrase from AC/DC, "money talks, hero citations walk."
