Have I been deactivated?

I have shopped for MF for 7 years with no problems. Today I logged on and the select shops tab is gone. I have 8 shopps scheduled so far this month. I emailed the help desk. No reply so far. Is this their way of letting folks go?

Would it be worth the time and trouble for her to call Marketforce to verify this?
Probably not.

Man, that stinks, gigishopper-I'm sorry to hear that for you. So, I guess we all should be glancing up every now and again to look for the Marketforce ax coming down with our name on it......
hmmm, that stinks. is this really how market force operates? they really let people go for absolutely no reason? did you have any late shops?
I would go by stages. I first would innocently ask the Help Desk whether there were changes to the system because under [whatever the browser is] I was not seeing the Select Shops. I would let them come back and tell me in writing that I was no longer going to be allowed to select shops. I might try a return message to the Help Desk asking if this was for all clients or just some clients. I would not get into a pissing match with them because they are trained to provide 'non-answers' in writing.

Once I felt comfortable that I could have a non-emotional, non-defensive, non-whining conversation with them I would call and indicate my concern, my interest in continuing to work with them, yadda yadda and my lack of understanding of what I might possibly have done that offended them.

The chips will fall where they may. Chances are not good about being reinstated. Put on your 'to do' list in 6 months or so to request reinstatement.
This happened to me a few years ago. I emailed and then called so ask why I couldn't see the Select Jobs tab. It was restored right away.
That's what I did. I simply told them of the problem and asked if it could be fixed. I'll post the response I get. I just assigned a shop last night.

To me it just sounded like you could be in that range where people get automatically booted. It seems like it is somewhere around 7 or 8 years and/or 1,000 to 1,500 shops. I've been expecting it at any time over the last couple of years. After only completing one shop for them I've done 4 in the last week and have one for next week. Who knows, they could be the only jobs for this year!

Somewhere else on here I've told this story also..

A scheduler called me last fall when I was about to have some minor surgery. I declined the shop and told her why. I tried to log in after recovering, but didn't see the select shop tab. I let it go, thinking I'd just been axed (like I was from the other side)

Fast forward to a time when I had a reason to call them for something other than getting scheduled. As an after thought, I asked them why I wasn't seeing shops anymore. Come to find out, it was put in the system that I was having surgery and couldn't do anymore shops.

Crazy, but if I hadn't asked I'd still be in the dark!!
One would think they would want to retain seasoned shoppers who do a good job. It's very interesting.

Never a late shop, only one shop rejected ever. I had one rejected FF shop a few years ago. It was a special order ad I had mustard removed. Mustard, at that time, was not an approved condiment to remove.

This is really the most absurd thing ever. Why doesn't anyone sue these people? I mean we have to agree to this ridiculous Independent Contractor agreement, they should have to give at least a sufficiently valid explanation for dropping shoppers. What an idiotic system they have, sheesh.
The point has been well made over and over that they or shoppers have the right at any time to terminate the arrangement with or without explanation. Employee situations are where an explanation is required and we are not employees.
Well, I got a response. It seems that last week I had three shops in the same mall (literally beside each other). MF says my times were too close. I emailed back and told them to look at the address and they would see that they are literally beside each other. Hmmmmn we will see!
They did that to me on some gas station audits once. I was actually given permission to complete 8 in one day because they were clustered so close together. MF did not like because one start time was 4 minutes after another end time. I explained that if they looked closely at the photos from the first station they could probably see the second station because it was directly across the side street and since they were audits there was no need to take time between to make any notes. Not good enough, they made it clear I should have at least 10 minutes between jobs.

The good news for you, if that is their only problem it may not be an unforgivable offense.

In many states, NY being one of them, employees are considered "employees at will" and may be dismissed for any reason or no reason, without recourse or consequence to the employer, as long as there is no stated or provable prohibited discriminatory reason (age, race, disability, etc)

That rule makes it a hell of a lot easier to dismiss an employee who just doesn't fit, or makes waves, or doesn't bathe, or whatever, without a hassle - it has saved me many an unpleasant termination conversation over the years - just tell the employee, hey, you know, and sorry to say this, but I just dont want you working for me any more, all the best

The same thing happened to me recently. I so wanted to post to the forum about it, but I try to protect my anonymity. Within a few hours of my calling and emailing the help desk, I received an email saying I should be able to select shops again. No explanation was given. I later received a return phone call from one of their schedulers, who knew nothing. While she had me on the line, she tried to get me to take some of the FF shops at base pay. I asked her for a bonus. =)

That happened to me. It's ridiculous. I had 3 retail stores literally right next to each other. They told me I need to give myself some "time to process the information" before moving to the next shop. They kicked me out a few months ago. Sad to see money go, but oh well. I never liked dealing with some of their "supervisors."

That was how I was deactivated just because I refused to do the same type of shop again. (I blame that on a trigger-happy associate.) Then, without any comment from me, someone called and asked what happened. She reactivated my account without any request from me. That was the Purple Portal. I should have been deactivated again because I have asked them a few times after that, but they haven't done so.

I have seen the most posts on here re deactivating by MF than any other co. They obviously suck. Move on.
I have read all through MF guidelines and can not find where it says there must be "x" amount of time between shops. The only reference to that is where it say the shopper must fill out his/her paperwork after a shop. Most seasoned shoppers can do this in a matter of a couple of minutes (minus the narratives). The basic notes take no time to do. UGH!!!!
I don't recall it being written anywhere either. I was told through e-mail AFTER it had happened with me. I felt it was especially heavy-handed when the job was an audit and all the paperwork was filled out during the shop!

We're you reactivated? It is nowhere in their website. I'm anxiously awaiting my next response from the "helpful" help desk!

I don't think I was ever deactivated for that one, but it did result in a bad mark on my permanent recordsmiling smiley

I have one from another company, but not 10 minutes. Not from MF though: "The client requests that the evaluator allows several minutes between each shop to prevent them from appearing rushed or hurried."

I think it is just an afterthought from the company. Even waiting 5 minutes before asking for the check is I think an afterthought especially if you have been there a long tme. It just gives them an opportunity to pick over your report esp since that was clearly NOT written on the guidelines. So, to play safe, I just indicate, "After waiting for 7 minutes for our check..."
This happened to me the other day. I got no email no call, nothing and I lost my shops. And why? Because I didn't change my phone number in my profile in a timely manner to them. Reality is, I thought I did.
If you are showing you are deactivated, sorry to tell you but any shops you HAD in que to do, are GONE! I dont' agree with their method, but it is what it is and we just have to make sure everything is up today ALWAYS.
MF is VERY slow to get back to anyone. I have sent an urgent email and it took them 2 days to get back to me.
