Where are the jobs?

I am new to Mystery Shopping. Is there something I am not understanding? I receive e-mails from various conpanies stating job posts that I am able to do. I live in a rural area and most of the shops they give me would make me go broke trying to do them, I refuse, you see, I am a hard worker and a loyal one, but, I will not spend more money than I make just to do a shop. What I don't understand is when I received e-mails about jobs that would be feesable for me, I go to the website to apply and these jobs are no where posted on their site.Nor do I get any reply back for these particular jobs. Can any one enlighten me on these proceedures? Am I getting the shaft or what. I want to do this but I am not one for wasting my time. My main goal is to make money. Another thing, isn't there a way to get multiple jobs in one area? I cannot drive 30 miles for $5.00 to $10.00.

It takes a while to learn which jobs fit what you are looking for. Some companies will send job offfers regardless of the location. Others will tailor the offers to your area. Jobs do go quickly so you must respond quickly. Sometimes a phone call with a rep will provide you with compensation for mileage or an increase in the job offer. It takes time to learn which companies will work with you. Have patience. Good luck.
Loralea, do you know what companies have shops in your area? Keep an eye on Jobslinger.com within a radius you are willing to travel to make sure you are signed up with companies that have shops near you. These are the companies where it is valuable to you to be proactive and check their job boards regularly. Emails are generally sent to ALL shoppers in a state at the same time and you have to be very speedy to be the first one there to grab it if it is interesting and self-assign.

Building routes takes time and learning which companies have which clients in your area. Not always can you get a route together. I have a distant shop on Wednesday that is heavily bonused because there are no shoppers out there. I am trying to arrange other bonus shops for the area because it is a chronic problem for companies to get jobs done out there. While I remember having seen shops there in the past that I just deleted from email because they were too far, I am now having a hard time finding jobs to make the trip more lucrative because I have forgotten which companies had a problem with that area. I did find a fast food for lunch on my trip, but they weren't desperate yet to have it done so no bonus with that. sad smiley
Sometimes you'll even get shops in all the other 49 states. Sorry, not within my radius. smiling smiley

I've developed a list of MSP's I want to check daily to beat out the emails. But it takes a few months to get that far.
You will soon notice that some MSP's totally disregard distance from you and list jobs that fall within a predertimed area that they have designed, usually according to ZIP or area codes. 99.9% of the reps I have talked to have no idea where I am located, let alone anything major close by that would have multiple shops. Some MSP's rely on MAP QUEST or some other similar program. There is a shop 8 miles from me that shows on MAP QUEST to be 23 miles, while jobs further away show to be 15 or less. The jobs closer to me get bonused for gas quicker than the jobs further away. There was a job that NO ONE else would do for the distance and the rep automatically gave me extra $ and let me choose my own shop times and dates (within reason, of course) if I would do all the shops they needed during the month if I scheduled them over the phone with her. Since then, the company has merged and the new company will not let her do that YET.
