Which companies to avoid?

I've been shopping for a few years now, but only a couple companies. I recently started finding some major lists of other companies to shop for and started signing up for all that I can. However I am trying to find out which companies I should pass on.

Is there already a list anywhere on here of companies with a history of problems?

Next to the company names here are links to discussions. You can also use the search function both here and on volition.com. You will find that opinions can vary widely about companies because we all have certain things we like or don't like. It doesn't make it easier because you will have to do some reading before deciding for yourself, but still a great resource.

The one thing that will be consistent and should be heeded are warnings of payment issues, most specifically non-payment. Just because a company is listed on any of the legitimate lists or is a member of the MSPA does not mean they have not had payment issues. Right now the only one I can think of which is on everyone's list is Franchise Compliance. Numerous non-payments and those of us that were paid did not get it within their terms.

Are those crooks still trying to recruit shoppers?

The problem in asking is that some MSC's are favorites, while the same MSC's are on others bad list....what works for one doesn't neccessarily work for another. Favorites have been listed on this forum, and quick payers like Qams are liked for that, while other slow payers like Service Slueth are liked but do pay slowly.

That has alot to do with favorites to work for. There are many different reasons to like a company, varity and work in your area, quick pay, self-schedule. The bottom line is find out what works for you by trial and error, and reading the forum, you'll find out.

I realize different people will have different experiences and favorites. I had just seen the thread on Restaurant Evaluators, and it seems like they have a history of non-payment, so I was wondering if there were others like that which the consensus is to avoid because of issues like non-payment.
Is that Hilli Dunlap?

BTW, it's not just about favorites or not. There are some companies which are really, really slow to pay, but because they offer things like hotel evaluations route shoppers find it better to get the money back eventually than pay for the rooms. There is a thread around here somewhere about our worst companies and there really aren't a lot listed. There's also a thread about slow-payers. That may be one to look for especially if you are in the early days of shopping and need to get some cash flow going before taking on jobs with bigger reimbursements. On either one you are likely to find references to companies that have not been paying at all.
