In my market, no. The shops get snagged at original prices here and that is not worth writing a report for. If I need fabric or notions I'll stop in on a route of other shops and come out ahead.
I stopped doing them, not enough pay with the purchase and report a royal PITA.

Live consciously....
Its not a shop I've ever done, but they usually get up to around $20 in these parts. If its a place you would be willing to shop do the training because you never know how high they will get bonused.

I consider the report super simple; not sure what is a pain about it. I do them once they get in the 8-10 dollar range but mostly because I am a crafter and can always find something I need in the small reimbursement amount. I did do one last night for 16.00.

They go for $3 here and I've never taken one because, are you kidding me? $3 to go in, evaluate, get something cut, pay for it, and fill out a report, all for the huge amount of $3! Somebody must think it's worth it because I never saw them go higher, but then again, I haven't looked for about a year because I divorced that MSC.
Yeah, I think they're O.K. too but Jo Anns along with Cici's Pizza are not longer offered in my area by this co.
It is cheap but they do allow coupons so your three can be worth six. Not great but I have never had to pay for thread yet. As long as I need it six bucks of thread is six I did not have before!
So if you purchase thread, then what do you get cut? Is that not required anymore? I'm just curious.

I have just felt that it was kind of insulting to think that someone would drive to a store, spend their time in there, get something cut, make a purchase, drive home, write up a report, and get a whopping $3. Other places require similar amounts of work and pay up to $20 or reimburse a lot more.

SpyGirl, you don't have to get anything cut. It's not different than a regular retail shop. Go in, make your observations, make a purchase. One of those observations involves the cutting counter, but you don't have to actually get anything cut.
In all the time I have done the shop for Joann's I have not had to have anything cut. Agreed there is a cutting counter interaction but it doesn't involve fabric. I buy scrapbook supplies, cross stitch floss, decorative items, notions, etc on my shops.

Another fabric store requires fabric to be cut (and then returned) but I won't do that one.

Oh and I have never done one for 3.00 either.

Just ask a question at the cutting counter. It is super cheap but six dollars of thread to me is a good thing.Three and then coupon three. I will not do the cut return shop. As a customer too easy to get spotted. I was behind a lady returning one day and they clerk told her returns are tagged in there to limit returns.
Hmmm, interesting information. I might take another look at some point, but I do think it's the MSC that I fired. Not positive though. My recollection of reading the guidelines was "take something to the cutting counter" or something like that, but if you really don't have to get it cut, then that would be a lot better. But, where I am, those shops were always grabbed up and never made it past $3.
I'm not sure if they're even in my area anymore (Maine), but I never took them because $3 is an absolute insult and not worth my time. I never saw them go higher than that so they must have found some sucker willing to do them...

The highest I've seen near me is $8 and change. Not worth it to me when you factor in the effort to do the shop, then write the report.

I've done them, but only when there was something I wanted to buy as I am a crafter. I'd be happy doing them in the $10 range, but they rarely get that high around here. I think the snowbirds are grabbing them up now at $3.
I, too, am a crafter and would love to do these shops in the $10 range or so, but for $3, it's definitely not worth my time.

I did one today for $17 and one last month for $33. They usually require more text than usual for this MSC but are usually highly bonused in my area. With a 45 day wait between shops I can't believe they are going so low.

Oh, I love the JoAnn's shops and will do them every month. On Dec. 31, the pay was $15 something besides the reimbursement, but I will do them for $6 and up depending. They are both in my neighborhood, and I love purchasing anything there, holiday napkins, decorations, etc. So when it is approx $10 including reimbursement, I'm okay, but only because it is quick (unless there is quite a line at checkout), the form is super duper easy and I love the merchandise. $3? Not in a million years.

That is a strange response to get from that company. I've had many dealings with them and all have been helpful.

More importantly, you need to delete the name of the mystery shopping company from your post. It is a violation of the posting guidelines and your IC agreement. It is acceptable to speak of either the client or the MSC, but not to link them.

Unbelievable response. I have never had anything but helpful dealings with them as well.
Ok - for those of us who didn't see the response from the unnamed MSC before it was deleted - what happened?

shopper reports that she was told she was "stupid for not being able to figure out the system and therefore should not shop for the company" something I am finding hard to believe
I'm with Carol on this one. Hard to believe and the shopper has started a thread devoted to it.

It is what she said...how did I break rules, I was advised of the rule and went back and edited the portion out(or so I thought??).

Ugh!

I wouldn't lie about a company, what would be my benefit??

Perhaps the rep was having a bad day who knows...guess I wasn't supposed to complain about a companies customer service when they have me evaluating other companies lol

Anyways my answer to the post was that I found the Joann shops very easy to do, the paperwork really makes it seem harder then it is. Plus I got a small amount of merchandise free, and I'm a crafter so I enjoyed the free stuff or discount on needed supplies.

EDITED: You named the MSC...:p
