Hi kmi,
In my experience Corporate Research International (CRI) is a very ... comprehensive company. Recently, I completed a major hardware store shop. It was one of the most intensive ones of my mystery shopping experience. Not hard, just extensive.
CRI has set up sort of a "university" feel to their training and testing. Don't let it scare you. There are times that the presentations (in a Power Point type design) are long, boring, and so detailed you think you'll never be able to remember it all, but you take the test, realize what it is that they're looking for and hopefully, feel a little better about it.
The major hardware store shop was my first for CRI, so I'm not familiar with their payment returns, but they've been around for quite some time, so they're definitely not fly by night. =)
I relied upon the checklist, the guidelines and the presentation for the shop I did and I received the highest rating they had to give. Not tooting my horn, just saying that it's possible to complete shops without incident. =D
I hope this helps!
