I have never heard of such a company but I guess the most important thing is how did you hear about them? What did they tell you and when you say it sounds too good to be true what did you mean by that? Doing a simple google search I came across some posts saying someone is using this company's name to run money order scams, but most scammers use legit companies as a front so who knows. Do they have a website and what type of jobs are they offering?

They do have a website is razor focus.net. even the website is somewhat evasive. when I spoke with dennis hunt who is supposed to be 1 of the schedulers he stated he would send me a package with all the information I needed. when I asked where you got in my name in information from he stated that some mscs share some information. I'm still kinda new to this I think I'll skip on this 1.
Google Dennis Hunt scams. Was it an unsolicited e-mail with bad grammar and offering to send money in advance? All huge red flags.

You never answered the questions. Was an offer made to send you a check or money order? The real Razor Focus is in Connecticut, not New York. I didn't see anything about mystery shopping on their website. It appears they specialize in focus groups on-site.

Lisa is right, I've been there for several focus groups.Their number is 203-540-3240 if you want to sign up with them for groups. As they are in Stamford, CT which is a huge business center 35 miles outside of Manhattan lots of companies in that city consider themselves "New York" area offices.
I get that a company may consider themselves in the New York are, but the OP said Dennis Hunt gave her a New York address. I'm just amazed with all the scam reports that this guy would continue to use the same name. I feel sorry for anybody who is really named Dennis Hunt, LOL!

Whats really sad is that I got one of those "western union" scams and went along with it to get the info to bring to my local police department - gave them all the info, etc (of course I didn't send a dime) and thought they would do something about it.

lets put it this way...."Dragnet" is a TV Show. they told me they had no time to deal with things like this.
I've read about that on this forum somewhere. The local police don't have time or resources to deal with these things. In that thread were suggestions of where to send info.

They did offer to send me money upfront all along with an informational packet. the money was supposedly to be used to make purchases but everything was very vague. it's a shame that this man is using an actual company's name and abusing it.
I put the number of the real Razor Focus up, I don't know if you'd want to but it might be good karma to give them a call and tell them what's up so they can put this info on their website so no one gets scammed.
Went to the post office today with my money order And of course it was fraudulent. Going to work with the post office to see what we can do aboutt mister Dennis Hunt and hopefully they can
stop him from scamming other people.

This may sound crazy but I had 1 of the most interesting and scary experience is today. Well Dennis Hunt called my phone today. He basically made some serious threat against myself and my family. It was to the point were I literally had to call the sheriff's office and get them involved. This land basically threatened my life as well is my children! This sounds like something that would only happen in movies and almost unbelievable. I'm telling you all this because this man is very dangerous and if not dangerous He definitely needs to be avoided please everyone He's my word of caution do not respond to any emails from this man. There's a lot to the story if anyone wants to know any more information they can private message me and I will gladly give it to them.PS please excuse my grammar at times. I use Google voice to post. I dont use it for my narratives.

I don't mean to trivialize what happened. I have no doubt it was scary. Don't worry too much. Most of these people aren't even in the country and if he's running one of the scams there is no reason for him to give up what probably ends up being some easy money by hunting you down. Part of the allure for these people is the authorities have little luck finding them.

Thank you Lisa for your reassurance by the way he definitely had an accent that was from a different country!
Makes sense! I'm sure they also work on percentages. Send out bogus e-mails to 100 people, 20 respond. Of the 20 another 5 go along without asking questions. Start threatening the other 15 and maybe you can squeeze a couple more that will fall for the intimidation. At this point they have nothing to lose except the time it takes to make that call or send several more e-mails. I'm assuming since these lowlifes don't have a job, they have plenty of time.

I also had one of the Western Union rip-off invitations and took all of the information that I could get and went to the State police and the leiutenant was very polite and looked it over and more or less said, " So what am I supposed to do with this?"
I REALLY had to bite my tongue to keep from telling him what to do with it,LOL.
My response to that statement is "how about doing your bleeping job that my tax dollars pay for?" Sorry, but when I see cops sitting around and then ask this its ridiculous. My ex brother in law robbed my house, I reported it, got my items back from the pawn shop - with my own money - and when I went to the police to find out what they were doing I was told that since I had already recovered most of my items the charge was now a misdemeanor and they didn't have time for that.

I told him to shove the donut he was dreaming about up his a**.

suzieboz, you have a legitimate complaint. And I certainly don't understand how you recovering the items reduced the severity of the crime. That only makes sense if he brought them back himself.

As far as those other scams, that really is beyond local and state police since it's fraud and involves multiple states and the postal service. However, I am surprised he could not even suggest the proper route. Just because it was not in his jurisdiction doesn't mean he should not know or be able to find out for you.

One of the problems with living in a small town is that unfortunately its the epitome of "juiced in officials" who all cover each others backs.
This is crazy man Dennis Hunt continues to email me. Obviously by the politeness in his email he doesn't realize I'm the 1 that he cursed out and threated last night. He just continues to email me requesting that I cash this money order I don't know what he's thinking Or obviously not thinking. I had forgotten all about google earth And how someone can actually see a picture of your house if they have your address. After much thought I now realize that he is no threat I'm just a real jerk! I just really hope that the postal inspector or somebody can catch up to him lord knows his name is not really Dennis Hunt! If there is a real DennisHunt I feel bad for that man. Okay that's enough my ranting about this I appreciate you are listening.
In reality the police can't do much because most of these people aren't even in the US. The local police don't have jurisdiction and the resources to fly around the globe aren't any good. There is a financial loss, but no one is physically injured.

E-mail is free and postage is relatively cheap. They really only need a very small percentage of people to respond to make a decent income. What I don't get is why people think that someone who randomly contacts them with no prior relationship and is offering them a couple of hundreds of dollars for minutes of work. The pay you receive should be in line with the work you do. They prey on the gullible and the desperate.
Any RazorFocus Mystery Shopping opportunities posted by Mr. Dennis Hunt or ANYONE else claiming to represent RazorFocus are clearly a scam. The REAL RazorFocus is a legitimate marketing research company located in downtown Stamford, CT. and we do not do mystery shopping. RazorFocus is a member of the Marketing Research Association and the Stamford Chamber of Commerce. If you have any questions please go to our website at www.RazorFocus.net. You will see the REAL owner of RazorFocus, Ken Gilbert. If you have received a suspicious e-mail offering to send you a money order which you are to cash, keep a portion and send the rest to the next Mystery Shopper, this is a scam. The postal money order they send is counterfeit and the bank that cashes it for you will reclaim the money at your personal loss. If you have received the money order do not cash it but do turn it in to the post office with a copy of the instructions you received. I can be called directly at 203-504-3241.
