The employee didn't do their job

I just had a shop thrown out because the employee didn't do their job. Has anybody ever had that happen? I didn't get a receipt or my drink at a fast food restaurant in the drive-thru. The employee said the reciept was in the bag. I would have corrected it but I didn't have proof I ordered a drink because there was no receipt. I also had to do a walk-in shop so I couldn't walk in to ask for a receipt.

Sounds like you did not do your job and verify the receipt was in the bag...

Your course of action regarding receipts depends upon the guidelines for each specific shop, and the guidelines are usually crystal clear. We would need more information in order to appropriately commiserate with or scold you. :-)
What is this "WE" stuff? You gotta mouse in your pocket?...:p

If a receipt is required, we need to do what we can to get one. Before driving away, look for the receipt. The unfortunate side of this business is that we end up on the hook when employees don't do their job.
I always make sure to track that receipt and make they "hand" it to me, so it does not get soggy wet or greasy, by being thrown in a bag.

That receipt is your "pay" so you can bet you have to make sure to get it. I know it's uncomfortable at times to ask for a receipt like in a convenience store, when no-one else is asking for one... but if you don't ask, well you know the rest of the story....

Wait....don't you? :-)
as to fault of course its the employees fault...

as to pay... well the company says its not the employees fault its yours

and they dont pay ya...

couple of times i had this happen... I go back and say im on buisness and need it for reimbursement purposes cause my boss is a jerk (which i am and which sometimes they are lol) and wont pay me if i dont get a reciept...

most of the time they can push a few buttons and pull it up... i have had locations where that is not possible and then its your word over theirs... and well a couple of times i get kicked to the curb... hurts but you gotta roll with punches... some places the ms company can pull it up through fanagling with their system and their client... but its not all the time.. and i wouldnt count on it...

seems some people are a bit blunt here... dont take offense its just the way they are...

Next time, go straight to the manager and tell him/her you need a receipt for your business trip expense report.
Years ago when starting, I finished a dinner and went to my car, the wind was blowing and blew the receipt right out of my hand. I was holding food, purse, keys and let it go. Returned next day when they opened and got another receipt from the Manager...they were nice, no questions asked. Since I did report previous night, I went to UPS and faxed in receipt, where there's a will, there's a way.

MrComputer101 ~ So, is that a mouse in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Sorry, I couldn't resist! ;-)

+1

I've been travelling for business much longer than I have been mystery shopping. Asking for receipts for travel reimbursement is old hat, and will not arouse suspicion 99.9% of the time.
I would like to know which company shops the Glass gallery's around Christmas time. My friend was shopped and got a bad report when she is one of their top sales associates. It really upset her and she stated she doesn't understand it. Her sales meanwhile are not so great.
mbewleym - I could be wrong but I don't think this group is the appropriate place to find out which company or which shopper gave your friend a bad report. She needs to take that up with her employer. And how could a MS report affect her sales? Customers don't have access to our reports. Maybe the report should be a wake up call for her to improve her sales skills.

I found it confusing that she is one of their "top" sales associates, but her sales are not so great. It certainly should not upset her. If the report was not accurate she can take that up with her company and if it was she should use it as a learning tool.

Regardless, both the forum guidelines and our IC agreements would prevent us from posting the name of the company anyway.

If you are determined to find them, there is a list of official mystery shopping companies on this site. Feel free to apply to as many as necessary. Assuming the jobs are not all gone, you may come across them.
