MERC SYSTEMS

I DID A SHOP FOR THEM WHICH COST ME $55 UP FRONT. WHILE ENTERING THE DATA THEIR FORM REFUSED TO SAVE THE SECOND HALF OF THE DOCUMENT. NOW, I HAVE 30 YEARS IN INFO TECH AND KNOW IT WASN'T MY FAULT. I TRIED AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN UNTIL I HAD BEEN AT IT 2.5 HOURS. I NOTIFIED THEM AND THEY DIDN'T ANSWER, I NOTIFIED THEM AGAIN AND FINALLY I GOT AN EMAIL THAT SOMEONE WOULD LOOK INTO IT. HEARD NOTHING BACK UNTIL SOMEONE SENT ME AN OVERDUE NOTICE ABOUT THE SHOP INPUT. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND FORWARDED THE "HELP" EMAIL TO THEM. THEY REFUSED TO HEAR ME. I EVEN WROTE AN EMAIL TO THEIR PRESIDENT BUT NO RESPONSE. I STILL HAVE ALL THE DATA AND THE RECEIPTS. AND, I HAVE THE EMAILS.

I'M EATING OUT OF THE LOCAL FOOD PANTRY AND AM HANDICAPPED WITHOUT A JOB. WHEN THEY FEEL FREE TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS IT REALLY HURTS.

I have worked for Mercantile for years, and am sorry to hear this. Report must be accepted to be paid, and with all due respect, why put out that much money for one dinner, since the report fee for the bar audit's are only $10.00, and you have to wait a long time to get it. I'd say your out of luck, but am sorry this happened. I go by the theory when doing a restaurant, if I can't afford it, I won't do it....they are a reputable company.

I needed the food. It wasn't just a bar audit. It was a dinner that was barely covered by their reimbursement. I would have had a can of soup that night for dinner if I hadn't done the shop.

They don't seem reputable to me and probably not to my lawyer if I have to sue for the money. At least I can get a lawyer for free.
You could have bought $55.00 worth of food at your grocery store. No report, no case.

Think about what you just said. I did a job for money and wasn't reimbursed and wasn't allowed, through no fault of my own, to complete the task. I really don't want to hear any comments from you again. Do you work for Merc?
I have never had any problems with the reports though there have been issues in getting the shops performed. I have always found their schedulers very responsive to questions. Certainly if I couldn't get the report to go through I would be on the phone immediately and leave messages if necessary and if I didn't find a person I would be sending an immediate email to my scheduler. Generally reports with any reasonable company that do not go through due to technical issues are not considered late if you submit them in a timely fashion after the glitch is worked out. I have literally created a pdf of a report to attach to an email to a scheduler when the report would not go through. And I have found that these guys are on my list of reasonable companies.
My working for the company ends with being a shopper for them for the past 6 years, and never having a problem....emailing a scheduler would have solved the problem.

before you go through a lawyer try Better Business Bureau first. I have done it myself and have gotten results. If that doesn't work, then go through the lawyer. You have a better chance of getting your money quicker. Then it goes on their record, and they will have to clean up their act. Even if they are reputable for someone else, doesn't mean it is O.K. for them to treat you that way. I have had issues where computers did not work, and I have issues where I could not get through to people and i have been doing this for years. I have never worked for this company, but the company I worked for and had this problem was a company I had worked for for a number of years and then they changed management. Then it became harder to get through to them, they changed everything around. I would try to be more careful in the future if you can. Be careful what you lay out and try to come on here and see what company's are reputable. Good luck
I completed a single shop for Merc on 08/02/06 and never considered accepting another assignment for 2 reasons. The amount provided for the REQUIRED food items was $8 and change below the lowest on the menu; I've no interest in partial reimbursement shops. The primary reason though, was the difficulty I encountered with being paid.

At that time, Merc stated payment terms of net + 45; it took me until 11/10/06 to receive my money. During that period, I was told over the phone by 2 females and a male, all representing themselves as officers of the MSC, that my "check was in the mail." After it cleared my bank, I attempted to sever our relationship, but it hasn't been easy, as these folks don't seem to understand NO. In 2009, I received a letter from Merc requesting a reestablishment of our relationship and this year again began receiving shop notices, which only ceased when I strongly rebuked them for their difficulty in comprehending NO.

In the aforementioned letter of 2009, the chap stated as the reason I should consider assignments was that the MSC was under new management; I chose to pass, but he may well have been correct. As a matter of business, I don't forgive MSCs who tamper with my money.
My experience was much more recent, early this year. The job had reasonable pay to begin with and a $5 bonus plus reimbursement. In my case the reimbursement could have completely covered the required purchase and I was paid within 45 days. From what I remember the report was easy, but I got confused about one section. Instead of just dinging me on the grade an editor called me and we went over that section so I could understand it going forward. She also complimented me on the rest of the report and I still received a 10. Maybe that new management thing was true.

Where I live (L.A.) the standard reimbursement for a drink and a meal is $25+ 10.00 fee...you can eat alone, must eat at the bar, and they have salads for about 12.00, pizza, and a varity of food under the re-embursement. This is the only Brewery restaurant they have here, guess they have different choices in other areas, but it certainly works.
