I still wonder what was the cause of his death.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
I'm guessing old age, he was above the average life span for a guy. and oh my, Gene Hackman way above it.
Yikes, the fact that this post was created by, I assume, a Dolly Parton fan is showing all of your ages...

Her friend, Linda Ronstadt, has (had) a MUCH better singing voice. Just saying.

lol Mav, I don't listen to country music if I can avoid it. I don't like Dolly Parton's voice or most of her songs. I am a fan because she is really honestly a good person.
I believe her fans from the most recent decades love her more for her humanity and wisdom than any of her singing performances.
Listen to the woman talk on any subject.
We need more Dollys in this world.
With all due respect, how could you people honestly know her. You only know what she says in public. I'm sure you've read all the stories of her infidelities, religious views, Dixie Stampede, etc.

Sounds like you are virtue-signaling. Not unlike the people who say, "I stand with Ukraine!" If you stand with Ukraine, go stand with Ukraine IN Ukraine.

Live your own life. Talk from your wisdom. Be the good person you were raised to be.
maverick, what you're saying could be said of anyone, anywhere at any time and yet we can still have deep respect for people that we don't know personally.
***Usually, it happens when their words match their actions.***
Even Billboard took it upon themselves to summarize much of her life's good work over the decades:

Can't say that for very many. Very few.

Okie Doke… She wrote some decent songs though. Can I say that or am I too old?

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Joleeeeeeeene,
I'm begging of you, please, don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Joleeeeeeeeene,
Please, don't take him just because you can….

Ok, ok, I won't poke the bears (the old bears) any more... smiling smiley

..."don't meet your heroes" because the idealized image you have of someone you admire might not match up with their real-life persona.

Boo Boo ~ I don’t have an an idealized image of you, but I’m disappointed just the same….

Your smile is like a breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you, Jolene
I need to get me some of maverick's bouncy shoes, so I too can easily jump to conclusions without data. smiling smiley
Yes, I am a Dolly Parton fan. Would I camp out for concert tickets? No. Do I stream her music and videos? Absolutely. Do I care about her infidelities and religious views? Why would that matter? I love her music!
