SNL 50 anniv. show

Minime? anyone?
I've seen it advertised all weekend...didn't catch it.
Wondering if it's good...I know it's subjective, but a majority usually means something.
It's so funny - any other time of the year, I barely notice what's on TV...
January/February though, especially when we're having cold or snowy weather? YES. lol.

I watched a lot of it until I fell asleep. I woke up at the end when Paul McCartney sang. He was good. Some of their new skits weren't funny to me, but it was a hoot watching the old ones, since I'm on the "older" side and go way back to their beginnings when they were actually soooo funny...coneheads, Mr. Bill, Hans and Franz, church lady, Gilda as the phone operator. I did catch one show not too long ago where Martin Short was in a parking lot trying to get a space. It was so funny. Google it..I could watch it over and over it was so funny. I also saw much of the music show on Saturday night. I enjoyed it too.

nope, didn't watch it. I've seen more than enough reels and videos on Faciebutts and YouTube to make up for it. I watched the in memorium segment, and I loved it. And I watched an inappropriate skits videos that was really funny, mostly because I was trying to picture anyone getting away with those jokes now.
I missed this but will still offer a belated critique. I gave the 50th show side a chance but it quickly devolved into short snippets of their latest skits that I usually find offensive and simply not funny. A missed opportunity since the producers could have killed it with most of their work in the late 80s and most of the 90s. Nothing with Darryl Hammond who I thought had the most talent out of any of them. I woke up to the start of Paul McCartney’s performance of Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight. His voice was cracking and unsteady at first but warmed up as time went on. He played the piano and guitar, and pretty much rocked the house. It turned into a sing along with all of the celebs in the audience. Definitely the highlight.

I saw some of the 50th ‘Homecoming’concert which I thought was much better. Robyn and David Byrnes performance was my favorite. Never knew he had a wife with some chops. The Backstreet Boys were the usual crown favorite with I Want it That Way. Kudos to their stylist. Their wardrobe was definitely on point.
TELL ME WHYEEE!….TEEELLL ME WHY…..
Darryl Hammond is kinda creepy.. I can't even watch the KFC commercials he did, he makes my skin crawl. Norm Macdonald sometimes too, but he did Colonel Sanders better than any of them.
I watched the whole thing on Peacock. It was ok, not great. Steve Martin’s opening monologue was pretty good. I also liked seeing some of the classic “not ready for prime time” players’ old skits. I didn’t like Miley Cyrus’ rendition of “Nothing Compares to You.” Paul Simon and Paul McCartney each sounded embarrassingly old. Adam Sandler’s “50 Years” tribute song was good. Two hours I’ll never get back, but it was a slow weekend, and I watched (or should I say tolerated) it in parts, not all at once.
