Why do we have this rule

I used to mystery shop full-time through my college years and was on this board all the time back during those years and I'm back now mystery shopping full-time. One thing I've never understood though is why we cannot name the place being shopped and the MSC in the same post? Maybe someone can explain that to me. Does it violate the IC?

I know we all tend to skim through the legalese but yeah, you signed an agreement when you joined each and every MSC that includes verbiage about this.

As said above, nearly every company we sign up with states we're not to reveal their clients or other proprietary info.

Also, it's info that changes frequently in some cases so can quickly become inaccurate.

Now, if the MSC wishes to reveal their clients, that's their business.

In many cases the MSC DOES reveal their clients on their webpage to encourage other businesses to join them as clients.
