January Learnings

- Don't post or joke about the social media mystery shopper. I had nothing to gain. I think I lost a buddy over it.
- Stay out of threads about taxes and financial literacy.
- Enjoyed the couple of shops with MFI. Just stay out the threads.
- Get ready for Kroger shops!

Highlight of Feb - shopperbob's Kroger pizza.

And don't guess at gas station names.. The one you're looking for is Road Ranger. Maverick stations are or were owned by the folks that have Circle K. But I don't know if they are shopped.

I've bought Kroger Pizzas to bake at home, they aren't anything to write home about, I'd still rather eat almost ANY other pizza except PapaJohns.

I agree with you about the threads about taxes and finances. I removed all of my comments in one of them.
How about handing out some apologies ? When someone's experience is different than yours. As you grab your pitchforks and torches, and berate them ! Did we learn that yet ?
claabe, Sorry! You shared and were transparent, with your experience.

I'm not arguing anymore. If you think it's the way you want it to be then that's the way it is. I'm old, and I'm sick of being told I'm wrong when I know what I did and what I read, and who I talked to.
Post freely.

If someone does not like a topic, etc., why not just avoid it? However, I have no right to tell someone to avoid it! And no one has the right to tell anyone what to post, read, comment on, etc. If someone is rude or nice, we all have the choice of participating in that discussion or not.
Madetoshop, The young kids say, "Fax." I don't feel like posting freely anymore!

purpleicee, My brain hurts with this circular and down the middle commentary. You're correct. Case closed.
Aww, Okie. I'm still your fan! You've contributed so much useful insight. Even if opinions are different, I look forward to reading your posts. Normally I don’t even look at general chat but I glanced, saw the author of this thread and opened it because your posts are interesting. Don't be bummed by those that would rather argue than discuss. People like that are everywhere, it's gonna happen. You be you and write what you want. I think many of us feel like that would be just fine. And, you know, like our parents always told us - if someone stops being a friend that easily then they weren't avery good friend to begin with.
Thanks, Sessie! I enjoyed your Ipsos and Presto vents/rants. There's a certain slapstick charm to it, while maintaining an uncanny level of direct satirical aggression.

I'll stick to mystery shopping here. For the off-topic stuff, I have fallen for Reddit recently. My goodness, it's better than what I remember it being. (Except for r/mysteryshopping, it stinks. When someone mentioned it recently, it prompted me to visit. It truly stinks!)

To my surprise, I have recently/instantly become a Reddit aficionado. In search of the minimum Reddit karma required, to be able to post on the good stuff, I was pleasantly surprised when an innocent post I made went off and got high feedback and engagement with views, upvotes, comments, and shares. Of all the posts, it was the one I least expected to get as much fodder as it did.

And a separate short and mundane comment I made on someone else's thread gained significant positive karma, 100x more karma than I needed from that single comment alone, to be able to post in certain communities. By that same token, I made additional comments to reply to comments made on my initial comment, which all turned into its own discussion. However, half of my additional comments got significant negative karma. The people turned on me quick and kept me in check when I got too honest. I had to course correct. It was fun. All that to say, Reddit will be the new home of my off-topic mundaneness.
I guess it's the grumpy season....for some reason(s) I can guess...

“Don’t worry even if things end up a bit heavy, we all float on alright.” - Modest Mouse

PS/reddit IMO, is the antidote for when you want to seriously discuss a topic without so much crappy noise, unlike typical social media.

Peace all! We made it through January. All up hill from here!
The only things I like about January are the weather and my birthday, and my birthday is questionable, at 64, I have STILL never received a birthday gift. One time a friend took me to see a movie at a theater that I was working at a few days after my birthday. But thats it. As a child, my mother always said, "I'm broke from Christmas, I'll get you something later in the year."

I love cold, or at least cool weather, anything over 75 degrees is very taxing, I get dizzy and weak. In the summer, I can usually only go outside after it gets dark, or early in the morning, and then only if there is some air moving, if the air is still or stagnant and it's muggy outside, I'll be inside in the A/C. Right now my heaters in the house are set at 60 degrees, because 65 is too hot and I can't sleep and I feel sick after I eat.
I think Okie is the nicest poster on this site. Morledzep - PM your address and I will send you a birthday gift????
Re Taxes I am so thankful I managed to do mine. Every year I scramble the various forms together I wonder why I worked so hard all year.
Thanks Equine, that's really sweet. I'm good. I'm pretty sure that if I actually get a real birthday gift I'll die of shock, or have a massive heart attack like my grandfather did when he found out my mother was pregnant with me.
Oh now, there has to be a story behind that one....either your mother was (a) way too young (b) on the older side (c) already married to someone else lol or (d) you are number #6 or #7 or? lol.

Happy Belated Birthday! hope you did something good for just you.
Boutique, excuse my French, but duck no! In my personal dictionary, dox is a dirty word. Much like family and kids are always off limits, to me, I believe that should be off limits, as well.

Equine24, I'm not that nice. I've also been a jerk too.

To me, end of January is one barometer of consistent/sustained resolutions.

lol Bare, she was 17, my dad was 18, my grandfather, that I never got to meet was 45. And no, they weren't married, she got pregnant on purpose so that her parents would let her marry my dad. And there is a LOT more to that story.
Disgusting and disturbing. Do not reference my kids or family ever again.

Madetoshop, Axe the kids about Panda Express.
Madetoshop, Sorry, if I offended you. My comment was distasteful.

My comment was an overall and general comment though. "Axe the kids" meant "Ask the younger generation." I replaced "Pony" with "Panda," to reference instant preparation and delivery of fast food. Very bad humor, on my part.

I didn't mean to reference your kids and family. Please accept my apology.
MLZ,
My mom was 17 when i was born, also...lol.... My dad however was an old man of 23.
My mom often said she married so young to get out of my grandparents house....my grandparents have only been gone a few years, so I knew them well for a long time...great people...turns out it was just a matter of she was a teen who wanted off the rural farm. I get that. lol.
My dad was a bit older, flashy, nice clothes, had a very nice car, rare for that area at that time.
It was all catnip for my mother LOL
God, I miss them all so much.
