Holiday Pleaures

Tonight, Santa in his lit up sleigh came down our street today led by 2 blaring fire trucks. Something our town started doing this year. It was such a great sight to see and enjoy. Made our day.

Not what I thought this thread was about, but I'm only slightly disappointed.

But yes, I enjoy this season as well. Can't stand Santa, but I'm happy to hawk merch to parents who want blow through their bank account to make sure little Timmy and Sara have everything they want. Nothing like buying up stuff from the Target Bullseye Corner and selling it for 5x the cost. Ain't that right, @drdoggie00? grinning smiley

There is the truth.
Then there is the right thing to say.

That's right, honey. Let's hear it for Wicked, Taylor Swift, and the passenger seat of Barbie's Dream Camper!

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown
...and here I was thinking this thread was about some raucous holiday party with spillage of, "Oh no she di'int!" tales. smiling smiley
I enjoy the holiday decorations! Neighborhoods, shopping areas, work. Most are well done and make for a good drive/walk.

Also, brought home two large poinsettias some weeks ago. I'm surprised at how much it's bloomed.

Many people tend to be kind at this time of year, but it is a shame they are not all year around.
I love the lights so much. Sitting in my living room, with the tree lit up.
Getting together with family and friends. Winter hikes and skating. The baking. Time off school.
I love Christmas choirs, but rarely get out for that.
I'm unavailable for work on all Christmas concert days though. I have that carefully marked on my calendar. LOL

I enjoy the Lovely merchandise put out for the season. I live in a rural area and enjoy the Christmas Markets each town has.

Went to one today and bought some excruciatingly expensive, locally crafted, sweets. Someone else is cooking Christmas dinner, and making me peanut brittle. At least I have a little treat for them.

Oh and I enjoy the things I see teachers do in their classrooms with Elf on the shelf. So fun.
Nothing I love more than staring at our tree.. Late this year and the tree trimming party is tomorrow all day long. Tonight, we went to our town's Winterfest in the park. Beautiful tree lighting ceremony, lights, vendors. Didn't wait for Santa as it was freezing.

I so miss the nursery/pre-k, elementary and HS years. My Mom and I loved the classroom and event happenings.

On another note, my employer's Christmas Party is this coming Saturday. Surprisingly, I got a plus one this year. DH and I are ready. I always leave before the craziness begins but can tell you things have calmed down considerably.
The firetrucks are a big thing in my area. At least 5 big trucks all lit up, many volunteers add their personal cars and trucks that are decorated. My kids are grown but they have enjoyed this since they were little.

This year we started doing adult elf on a shelf. Last night the elf went to a strip club. She had a great time. I wish i could post a pic!!
I enjoy the peace and happiness this season tends to bring.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.

I never understood the point of a strip club. Get "wound-up" by a stranger for...?
Isn't that the point of having a partner you know intimately?

Note: Yes, I have been to one on two "pre-wedding" occasions. Still seems awkward.
Often, they are a place that a group of friends can go to...for laughs, you know to embarrass one of the group.
When I worked in my professional career, and there was business travel out of town, and the company made us share one vehicle, even if a large SUV, I was often the only woman in the group....don't get me started about sexism in business....but I had to go along with it, to get the ride back to the hotel. I rolled with it....but then again, they never were involved in anything raunchy...so it wasn't too bad...the only "bad" part was seeing some of my coworkers in a new light...I couldn't unsee that when we got back to the home office, omg.
