Spongebob

We all know there's never been a time like this at least in recent memory....so divided, with both sides feeling so strongly about their beliefs and positions.
Some are pleased, some are very disappointed and very, very, concerned....
It reminds me of when I was a kid and they taught US History. They taught about the Civil War and how there were people on both sides in the very same house, same family, friends on both sides, on the same street or road and how difficult it was and how it tore away at the very fabric of American life, that hatred reigned over the country.........and I remember as a kid, thinking how awful that must have been.
Well, after all these years, now I know how that feels.
We know.
But here's something you can do no matter what your position is.
Don't be a Jerk.
I mean, if you care about other people. If you don't care about the people in your life, I guess you can be the biggest jerk around.
You might have kids or grandkids. They already know this because they know Spongebob. In the words of the Sponge:
Bring joy to the world, it's the thing to do
But the world does not revolve around you
Don't be a jerk

Who is being a jerk? I'm not a jerk. I've been treated like crap. I've had my home egged. Someone put rice in my mailbox, which attracted ants. Those ants ate up my mother's hand when she went to get the mail, not realizing they were all over the mail and inside the mailbox. I had to take her to ER. In fact, it is me and others on my side who have been relentlessly mocked, called stupid, fascist, racist, sexist, and the list goes on. In fact, one well-known former candidate stated a while back there needed to be a "deprogramming" of people like me. And we're jerks? Please. Here, it was indicated I have poor character based on the fact I see things differently. What a crock. Stop playing the victim card. If you are victim, it is because of your own self-deceit.

I love everybody. I respect everybody. But I also have a right to share my thoughts. If I had insulted someone, or was being a "jerk," the moderator of this board would have rightly removed my post. They haven't. What I find quite sad is that grown adults, who are supposed to be mature, cannot accept a world where people disagree with them. In every case I know of where families have been torn apart or friendships lost, it is because of people on your side refusing to have anything to do with us. Our arms are wide open. I'll be your best friend. I'm someone who would jump in front of a bullet to save you, a complete stranger. I'm not someone who would pretend to be your friend, then go behind your back and leave you out of the conversation. I realize you and others are upset. Back when I was on your side, I went through similar experience in 2000. I was crushed. Heartbroken. Fearful. And so was everybody else on that side. But I also let people enjoy their victory lap. They have a right to do that. They have a right to be thankful. They didn't have to cater to my feelings because at the ripe old age of 20, I knew the world didn't revolve around me. So it is really ironic that someone who did not like my post and would have liked it taken down is telling others the world does not revolve around them.

There is the truth.
Then there is the right thing to say.

Hey BarefootBliss and ServiceAward, get back to those good old times not too long ago. When you were talking about eBay, Poshmark, and what not!

Unrelated, but me personally, I'm a sensitive person and lately have been getting drained easily. I've been working on managing stress better. I learned to always take sometime everyday to recharge, breathe, and take a mental break from everything. Not sure if that helps any.

I am happy to talk about anything and mature enough to have civil discussions even with those whom i disagree. However, i will reapond when a post is aimed at me and i am referenced as a jerk, especially when that post is liked by someone who is supposedly a friend and whom i am a good friend to. It hurts.

I hope this is not the case here. A friendship that ends over political views was never a friendship to begin with. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. Their issues, not yours. Don't sweat the small stuff please.
There is a reason why Service and I do not discuss politics. We’ve known from the beginning that we’re on opposite sides of the aisle. Will we get through this? Probably. Will we ever see eye to eye? Nope.

This is my last post on the matter. I’ve had election fatigue for 18 months, and now I’m just over it. If anybody needs me, I’ll be down the hall.

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown
Anybody remember the old joke when you were a kid?
Wood Eye! Wood Eye!
Peg Leg! Peg Leg!

Was just reminded of it... peace. Makes life easier that way and better for your health too. Off the soapbox now lol.
