Other gigs

Preface: I am sure that there was another thread on this topic but neither search method shows any results for "gig" within the last year.

Cat in a Flat. Basically, cat sitting and if you want to do additional chores like watering plants you can ask for extra. My daughter told me about this. She is in Metro NYC so I am sure there are many cats in flats there and it might not be profitable outside a major city.

Something to consider. For those few, like me, that were not already aware.

All of this "minding" work - minding other people's plants, homes, pets is right up my alley and so many avenues now to get that work.
At risk of sounding arrogant, they don't come more trustworthy than me...I would be good at this. The only thing holding me back so far is concern about our litigious culture....but I know there are ways to mitigate.
Item # 1,983 of things I should look into.

If you work for yourself, you might consider professional insurance.
If you work for someone else, it SHOULD come with the position, the company should carry it.
I've never forgotten this since my cousin babysat a baby who died of crib death on her watch. Coroner determined it would have happened at any time, so consider that as very bad luck and bad timing.

Umbrella insurance is also a relatively inexpensive add on to your property insurance. I had it years ago when I had rental property. Proetcts you if you're sued if I recall correctly.

Some umbrella polices do cover professional liability and some don't....so of course the details are important....
I dropped mine (GEICO) when prices jumped through the roof....and I know lots of people who are complaining the same about other insurers...so maybe I need to ask a broker to look around for me.
I wonder how big of a cut the agencies take....anyway, stuff to think about.

yes lol - and amazing the differences between people in how they define them..
My mom had a funny expression when it came to gift giving (kind of as a warning to others not to waste their money lol)
"If I can't eat it or wear it or drive it, I don't want it" lol.

Do any of you or have any of you done any gig work involving shopping and deliveries? Instacart? Uber? Lyft?
I've never done any work involving driving, but I wonder how it is....especially compared to MSing.

Cool would be the person to talk to about driving for Uber and/or Lyft. He does people, but I don't know about shopping and deliveries.

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown

Bare, I agree with your mom. But the first time (and last time) in my life someone gave me flowers I cried like a baby.

She enjoyed flowers but more often appreciated things involving experiences.
I think it all started when she was younger and given sexist gifts by her in laws - housewares, etc.
Eventually, we all got on board...
So glad you like flowers too....they send a lovely message....I love them too... maybe more so wild flowers!
