Well the gist of this thread is two-part.
1) Have there been any good movies recently in theaters?
2) Are they any old movie, documentary, TV recommendations you would make? Preferably ones available on DVD.
During the summer, I've been watching more movies in the theaters, but have movies really gotten that bad? Have there been any good ones that you've enjoyed? I know movies are highly subjective, and there are some theories why it's so bad now. At the bottom, is a list of the ones I've watched so far. I watched a variety of movies with family, friends, casual date night, myself. It started out decent during the spring, but then tanked during the summer. Especially the sequels. You didn't have to watch the previous movies, but it was just lackluster to me.
Also, I'm looking to cut a lot of streaming services that I let linger on. As I take a closer look at my spending, finances, and habits, I've determined I spend all of my time watching/listening to YouTube and Spotify. Pre-COVID, when I was super frugal, I used to visit the library and rent one movie, documentary, or TV season to watch once a week or over the course of weeks. I'm looking to do that again, as I recently visited my local library for the first time in five years. Have a list of some old ones I want to re-watch and some topics I want to research, but I'm curious if anyone has recommendations.
Spring
The First Omen
Monkey Man
Abigail (To me, surprisingly entertaining)
Summer
Challengers (Really bad)
The Fall Guy (Really bad)
The Garfield Movie (I knew this was going to be bad ahead of time, but it was a kids' event)
Bad Boys Ride or Die
Inside Out 2
Despicable Me 4
Twisters
Deadpool and Wolverine (Really bad)
It Ends with Us (The most decent one so far ... but like an extended episode of a long-running crime TV show, no offense)
