Does anyone take Prilosec?

It can help a lot! Prilosec should be taken for a limited course (usually 14 to 21 days) to heal the damage that the reflux has done. Taking it long term can be problematic.

My 84 year old brother has taken Prilosec for about 6 years now and has never had a problem. His doctor told him that he would have to take it for the rest of his life due to him having such bad acid reflux. He only takes one when he absolutely needs to.He doesn't like taking pills.
Long term use of Prilosec has been linked to an increased risk of kidney disease and bone fractures. Taking it for two months under doctor's advice should be just fine. Sometimes, a doctor will prescribe it long term if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Prilosec isn't really for use for occasional heartburn because it can take up to four days to start relieving symptoms. Pepcid is very good for occasional heartburn; it can provide relief from reflux that starts within minutes.

I would recommend you take both the medications as prescribed, and I hope you will experience a full recovery.
As noted above Prilosec will take time to be effective but you'll never have any acid reflux while taking it.
