Flashfood app: 50% off groceries close to expiration

Used it yesterday. Very simple process. Just show your phone to a customer service person. Only accepts cards. 2.25 lbs of catfish for $6. It's in giant eagle stores only in my area. Transaction is handled by third party so no grocery rewards/gas points.

I shopped it a ton and with two different companies and then they shut down in my area. But highly recommend it.
Has anyone seen it in DC or nearby MD areas?

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
It was at Giant Food in Northern VA but they discontinued the program and there is nothing in the area anymore.
According to one youtube-ist who chronicles various aspects of retail, the food at Dollar General is often close to its expiration date. I wonder how the prices compare...

they cant get the stock circulated in time or off the carts enough to be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars by the fire marshall. i dont think they care.

Flashfood is usually at Meijer stores in my area. They will have a large box of produce for $5. Sometimes meat, deli salads, bakery items, etc. The only dollar general in my area that has fresh food, it's pretty pricy and Flashfood would definitely have the win.
All Meijer locations participate. Many (but not all) Giant Eagle locations in my area are on there as well. For some items (like the produce box) I will have a look in person if I'm there anyway. If it looks good, I'll go in the app, buy it, and pick it up right there. Otherwise it can be a bit risky. Remember that just because it's on the shelf or in the fridge doesn't mean it's available. It might be something already purchased that hasn't been picked up yet.
i dont think i will use it for produce. i often buy day old/reduced fresh veggies but i like to see them first. im lucky to be in an area that has very good prices on meats. pretty much the only reason I used it was there was a deal on frozen catfish which i enjoy and cannot get cheaper than what they were offering. most of the other things are reduced down to regular prices in other stores in my area.
