Well, I just looked at Direct Tools for a 40V pole saw at 40% off. But now that their Black Friday sale started, this item is no longer available for "ship to home." That was it for me. But being a business / investor geek, I do see that some places, such as Target and Walmart, should have good sales as their inventory levels are high. Their stock prices took a hit due to poor sales up to this point. Now I should also mention that consumer credit card debt and debt overall is getting very high. Shop carefully folks. And pay off your debt. It's going to get tough (2023) before it gets better (2024).

Black Friday? Never, ever, ever. @Shop-et-al, do you Black Friday shop?

No. I stay at home and avoid brick and mortar encounters. I have tried to find "The Deals" online. I never have connected with what I truly want. However, I buy at other times and often get better deals on what I want, which rarely if ever is what the sales powers that be are pushing on Black Friday.

I'm not a big shopper and don't like crowds. It would take quite a deal to entice me.
Putting on my "Black Friday business cap"...

Yeah, well, it’s interesting, because now the US is north of $1,000,000,000,000 U.S. credit card debt (that's 1 trillion). We’re approaching $5 trillion in overall consumer debt here in the United States. And that’s made up of auto, obviously mortgages, credit cards, student loans. It's a significant number. And that’s happening under, again, a rising interest rate environment and you have to service that debt.

What I’ve said before...and what I believe, as long as people have jobs, as long as they feel good about things, they will spend. And one of the main things they look to is the stock market, which a year earlier has sold off, but not in a catastrophic way. People will spend money. It's just the way it’s always been. It doesn’t mean they should be spending money, but they WILL spend money.

Bottom line: Never underestimate the U.S. consumers WANT to spend. It doesn’t mean they should be spending.

The consumer is becoming increasingly strained, savings rate going down, meanwhile consumer credit, is going up dramatically.

(This isn't going to end well)

One of my DILs is a deal shopper (but is more inclined to be active on Cyber Monday than Black Friday). Per her instructions I've forwarded my Christmas list. It's always interesting to see what she comes up with.
